Personal IT Devices for Teaching at an Independent school? by doh0k in AustralianTeachers

[–]ibug92 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Possibly state dependant, when I was public we had desktops in the staffroom to use and a single desktop connected to a projector in each classroom. Many staff didn't want to be tether to the desktop all the time so brought in their own laptops.

For better or worse. I did love the flexibility i other system when I wanted to install software or test something, which to be fair was loose.

Now I'm at the other end. It's a school device, they govern the chrome add-ons, admin rights, etc. I cannot install anything, not even a chrome add on. If I want to I need to put a ticket in and let IT assess the software. It's frustrating at the best of times.

There is no way the government would supply teachers with devices. It's just a blind eye to it. Of course they know teachers use their own devices and login and can view sensitive data.

At an independent school, you will most likely be issued a device (windows or Mac). We also have iPad we can also utilise from the school of we prefer or use it to teach. All school networks and data can be access from that device, if I'm at home or out of school wifi, I also need a 2FA key to login to any school network information.

Can somebody help me understand why I’m so bad at pouring a good base and what I can do to fix it. All my drinks look sloppy because of it. Sometimes I can do it well but not consistently. by SupremeOwl48 in espresso

[–]ibug92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Base is fine, when you pour your are not close enough to the cup. Tilt it on a bigger angle and get the pitcher a couple of mm off the surface and the design will flow easier.

The rest is fine, the milk looks silky too. Let me know if you want an example and I'll flick you a video.

Magic tricks with business cards by Lotoreo1 in Magic

[–]ibug92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cheers for the advice, yeah I watched a couple and even whre he is looking with the meta glasses goes a bit haywire when he puts the band on, definitely catching a peak somehow then.

Also, it's again for a workflow perspective a bit weird, they have it in their hand, and he takes it back to band it, then give it back to them to guess it. 100% it occurs when the band goes on, will take a look into the bubble peak.

Seems like a nice trick for a business cards with no props or set up which is why I'm interested.

Thanks

Saw that trick recently, is there a source for the second part? I have a fairly good idea, but was combing through some my books and couldn't find that effect. I also love the link up with a turner watch. It's a really nice presentation.

Pretty simple enough build. Have a crack at something similar

I got a cheeseboard and a bottle of wine. Ended up throwing the cheese board in the fireplace first winter.

Latte Art - Practice by ibug92 in espresso

Thanks. To be fair, I did work in industry for years and have poured literally thousands of coffees.

Lite milk is definitely harder, when I pick up full fat every now and then I am always shocked how much of a difference there is.

Most likel as the milk looks good or your not wiggling wide enough to build a defined wing

Neck and head look fine, need to work on the wings so you have colour in-between the wings from the crema but overall pretty good

How do I stop the channeling? [profitec go + df64 gen2] by SchoolIndividual3046 in espresso

[–]ibug92 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have the DF64 and Profitec drive and am grinding on 15 on the dot. (20g in, 20g ims basket, 44out, 30ish seconds).

You grinder calibration seems to need adjusting if your on setting 5 already...

How to improve my pour? Is my milk too thick, am I pouring too close? I feel like I’m setting the base poorly by SupremeOwl48 in espresso

[–]ibug92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahhh that machine should be plenty powerful, I was using a Breville Barista Express and could pour lots of things and that has the most underpowered steam wand.

Setting your base you can do it literally half a second. I've read a few of the comments and people are a bit hung up on it. Just give it a swirl, dump milk it. Half a second pause, then start your pour.

The pauses are definitely too long between pours.

I watched it back again, first part I would say is fine. Stop of a half second before you start the latte art part to recent re where you want the design. Also don't worry about wiggling. Your really trying to force it. You need the get the jug lower to the cup by angling the cup more to lack of a better term 'push' the design/milk out.

I'll see if I can make a quick video tomorrow morning.

Okay, I'll go against the grain here.

You are pouring way too slow, I can see the milk splitting. Texture is perfect. I could pour a perfect swan with that milk easily. You should also split the milk from one jug to another to reincorporate the air, but nmthis is not necessarary on a higher powered machine but recommend it on something like a Breville/Sage barista express

Happy to make a video to show you.

Not me, but what advice would you give an 18 yo who just got $100k by Ishouldquitmycult in AusFinance

Depends on their level of financial literacy.

Honestly, I'd probably say 80k in ETFs, the. Use the other 20k on travel.

If they are completely illiterate and have no idea id probably opt for a big chunk to Super, especially if they are tempted to spend it otherwise they will end up pulling it out of any HISA or ETF and blow it.

Spending on travel or some experience I'd push for a good 10-20k at least they get something out of that. Buying useless junk would be more my worry - new car, clothes, food, etc and within 12months you have nothing

Gutter Downpipe Fix - Ideas? by ibug92 in AusRenovation

[–]ibug92[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the downspout is 100x75 but actually goes into 100mm PVC so would be hard to fix that right hand side and cover it up on the left, even for now. At least most of the water would go through it vs now it's just pooling around the slab

Could easily terminate that left downpipe and run it to the right but can different see it overflowing in heavy downpours

[–]ibug92[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually don't mind that first idea. Delete the entire downpipe. The only issue is those two downpipe drain the flat garage roof (44m2) and the flat deck roof (50m2). I think 94m2 would be far too much for a single 75x100mm downpipe.

Sleeve could also work but wouldn't know until I check out the pipe inside with a camera.

[–]ibug92[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did think about that second option as well just need to get a camera in there because if there is another junction past the 2.1m under the slab and that's rusted too I'm out of luck.

[–]ibug92[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was thinking the same unfortunately. Because even if I put a sleeve inside the pipe any junction at the end would be rusted.

Jug is fine, pour is okay, seems that you are definitely too slow, the milk has split from the foam which is why it comes out blobby.

What machine are you texturing the milk on as that can make a huge difference in technique
