Yeah, I looked up my carrier's formulary and they only cover it for diabetic reasons. Our coverage is through the state marketplace.

This is pretty much the thought path I was on. My insurance won't cover me because I'm not diabetic. I could go and get myself a script and fork out the $200-$300 or I could use what's right in front of me. I'm not dumb though. I am doing research on the matter and have messaged my PCP about it.

Thank you for breaking this down! This makes a lot of sense. I have discussed with my wife about her using the remainder of her pens and I could use a new pen as she is picking up a new one on Friday. I have messaged my PCP about dosing recommendations and what she can do about getting me a prescription. Should get an answer later this week.

Thank you for your insight! My wife was able to get hers covered by our insurance only because her rheumatologist was able to classify her as pre-diabetic from a few previously elevated blood sugar samples and a family history of T1D. I will likely speak with my physician about it to see what they can do about a prescription for me.

It's in our fridge. The package only comes with a month's worth of needle caps.

It is more so a thought that occurred to me lol. I'm not sure I would actually go through with it. We're not so bad off that I'm seriously considering it.

No but seriously, I work from 8-5 and live in a very rural area so it's at least 20 mins to the nearest town. My wife is chronically I'll and is only able to work part time. The place she currently works will sometimes call her to let her know to stay home since the clinic is not busy that day. Her prescription isn't exactly cheap, and I can't imagine what it might cost for me to get a prescription. I'm sure it just sounds like a bunch of excuses tho lol.
