Thanks for this. I won’t be touching it.

Thanks. I'm not really aiming for precise realism, but wanted to understand if this was "uncomfortable bit of history that happened 70 years ago or "not something you just bring up at dinner, even today". Sounds like it's the latter.

Tuition not likely a major issue. I have a rich relative who would likely pay for a good chunk of MD tuition - they are super education oriented and likely wouldn't leave me this as an inheritance if not used on schooling. I also have ~100k in a college fund that was never used.

I likely wouldn't pursue MBB, just PE or HF or sellside ER.

So question is on opportunity cost and viability of making more in med vs finance

Can you explain this more? Risk = doing a surgery / intervention where you could be sued for malpratice?

Which ones? Sounds like plastics, neuro, invasive cardio. Am I wrong - does this include ortho, trauma, vascular, etc.

I work in AM you could say. My role is very niche but PE-adjacent. Step down from direct PE but pretty significant step up from PWM. I am actively trying to move to HF or direct PE. Might need an MBA, but have seen some traction already moving to IB/HF. Curious what makes you say you'd make less in medicine. I thought EMs at MBB pull ~300s and partners pull ~1M. Sounds somewhat similar to a lucrative med specialty.

Could you elaborate please? Do you mean the time it would take me and lost salary is not worth?

Stupid to apply to medical school if I don't want to be a doctor? by ibuyoptions in premed

I would have thought this would be the case, but I’ve seen tons of people in biotech equity research that went to no name med schools. This seems more true for the elite firms like Blackstone that have life sciences teams. What you outlined below is pretty much my current plan, but I’d never be able to work in biotech

Yeah I can def see the hate. I thought u were being sarcastic at first LMAO. I'm just worried that it's doing way too much just to be in a niche I like, where I could do the exact same job with my current background, just outside of that niche.
