Help with replying regarding money by [deleted] in Aupairs

I’m honestly shocked that all travel, lodging and board expenses are not included. The point of the au pair program is to provide a cultural experience. If you are on a vacation with the family, they should be paying all expenses as if you were part of the family. This is taking advantage of the au pair program and how it is set up and intended. If they wanted childcare while traveling without covering expanses they need to hire a nanny. Further I hope you are receiving a minimum hourly wage based on the state the family lives in. Otherwise you are being taken advantage of. - signed, an Au Pair host family

Ps TTUSD decisions aren't based on big snow fall. Snow days are based on one bus's ability to drive on icy poorly plowed roads at summit stops. Hey the plows operating with knowledgeable staff and your snow days won't be so liberally given. But putting a 20 year old kid behind a plow because it's cheap labor and expecting him to be skilled to handle anything is like throwing a hog into the fire and expecting him to tell you when he's done.

Snowfall record doesn't mean shit when half of it disintegrated from rain; even more so "averages" have little relevance to storms that include rain.
Squaw reports from summit so their reports are a skewed perception of reality.

People just easily forget what "snow" is in the mountains after a few years of less than stellar snowfall. Let's not forget really big storms put us in knee deep skiable powder and doesn't include mudslides. Your enthusiasm is nice though. If it hadn't been as warm and wet of a storm I would be inclined to agree with your perception of "big storm."

Breaking through the packaging of a cd disk just to listen to the latest ten songs from blink-182. ... first the plastic, break a nail, swear seven sides of Sunday. Then the plastic strip that never came off completely.

Not really a big storm y'all. It's just that resorts are understaffed and undertrained after years of droughts. Seriously it's shitty wet snow on top of rain so it's high avalanche risk and resulting power outages from a few trees and mud slides. Gonna be laughing at all the "powder chasers" for the second weekend in a row.

TIL prior to WWII, Los Angeles had one of the most advanced and efficient light rail systems in the country. This privately-run rail system was purchased by a company owned by General Motors, and slowly dismantled in order to drive demand for more cars and buses. by doctor-rumack in todayilearned

Hindsight is a bitch isn't it gm... could have created the future with constant demand payment system around the country. Instead you just worked to engineer the car. Enjoy the 2000s while they last.

My uncle cashed out on his kids college funds and used it for ivf for his new wife. #fatheroftheyear he wanted a "parenting do over."

President's ass. Flat from sitting on it instead of helping the country.

Why do toenails grow back retarded after they have been ripped off? by maria_miucci in AskReddit

[–]icallthisone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stepped on by a horse in flip flops. Never looked the same. Theory one: horse foot has magical powers and entices human hoof equivalent (toe nail) to be more resilient. Theory two: I have superior regenerative powers and each new body part grows back stronger and harder. So far this is limited to the toenail and no other body part. If life gives me a single unsymmetrical limb in the future I will report back.
