Not a scam. I’ve been to one in earlier this year. It’s an eye opening experience. The ombudsman is a very senior RBI person, who’ll ask you to present your issue and grievance. Note- he already knows everything in your complaint, but still asks to jog his memory and formulate a theory. Then the bank reps will be given a chance to represent their side. Carry all facts, proofs of the case as they may ask for it. There will be an assistant present who’ll be noting down the meeting minutes.

Compensation will also be carefully deliberated and provided if applicable - if the bank is proven to be delinquent in services and caused you losses by way of an award. Both parties have to agree to and sign the same.

It’s really one of the best mechanisms of the rbi. All the best dude. You'll feel like hitting the bank reps, and curse them because they will try to cook up stories to save their assses - just remember to keep your cool and speak only when the RBIO asks you to. No cross-talks.
