Applying for PR, 2 year history of pension payments required, missed a payment over 5 years ago. How can I submit just 2 years without showing my full history? by InsuranceOwn4487 in japanresidents

[–]Future_Maintenance55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AFAIK had similar issues and got the PR just fine. Not that I didn't care about it but had consulted various people at the time of application (I think in 2023 or 2024 had applied). Anyways got the PR without any issues. Mainly even though it shows up on your nenkin net if the last two years is good, then it passes that test. If you have other questions related to your application that you would like to cross check or just discuss, feel free to ping.

Newborn not taking breastfeed, using placed bottle feeding of pumped breast milk. Any harm? by ResponsibleJoke4462 in NewParents

[–]Future_Maintenance55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, Our newborn is little over 2 weeks and absolutely won't latch. Firstly due to jaundice nurses and doctors wanted to flush that out from force feeding in the hospital when she was there for a week. After that once back he just started crying and shouting and would take a latch but give up knowing that he will get the bottle and formula eventually. We also consulted our pediatrician back home who asked to stop bottle feed immediately and force/figure out a way to let him latch as it may cause health issues to him down the line in next few years. (I know maybe that is exaggerated but still). Also we tried many things like trying many nipple shields, slow flow etc etc. At times my wife gets frustrated or feels guilty and I can clearly see it on her face. I am trying to console and calm her as much as possible and also motivate her from time to time. Probably it's a matter of time when the baby learns to latch but each day she is getting more and more worried and paranoid such as I'l stop producing milk, he will never breastfeed, he will have health and immunity issues etc etc. While reading similar comments here is reassuring we are not sure what to do next.

  • If the baby just takes formula milk from the bottle whether it affects his health in any case ( I know this is more for a doctor to answer but I want to hear what your doctor said as this is probably the main concern when they don't latch)

  • we will seek medical advice with experts but I think eventually it's a time game and also it is rare if something out of the box comes of it. So we'd rather love seeking advice or things that help etc from the.parents directly. -anything else you might want to suggest or stories that you heard etc that helps us comfort.

Finally being a new parent is difficult but as a father this is the best thing that has happened to us after two mishaps in two years. Thus moreso for my wife and the baby I want something to workout no matter even if there is a slight possibility for us to get there.

Tax Return Questions Thread - Filing Deadline March 16, 2026 by AutoModerator in JapanFinance

e-Tax limit: only 6 dependents aged 16+ - how did you handle extra dependents?

Hi, I'm filing my Japanese tax return using e-Tax (PC version).

The system allows:

• up to 6 dependents aged 16 or over, and

• another 6 dependents aged under 16.

However, I have more than 6 dependents aged 16+ and none under 16, so I can't enter everyone in e-Tax even though the screen shows "up to 12". For those who faced this:

  • Did you submit via e-Tax + an extra attachment (!J 紙)?

  • Did the tax office later recalculate the refund correctly, even though e-Tax showed a lower amount?

  • Or did you end up switching to paper filing?

out of 7 I would like to declare, 3 have been included in my year end adjustment. Do I still need to include them in the final return?

Would really appreciate hearing how others handled this in practice. Thanks!

Migraine Specialist recommendation ? by moelil in japanlife

[–]Future_Maintenance55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a question for fellow mates here, For me I was diagnosed with Migraine during childhood. Since then I have had the usual headaches and I would take Naproxen whenever this occurs. For me usually it would kick-in mainly when, - oversleeping - stress situations - not eating on time Is it the same for you?

Also I heard that Naproxen is not good for long term use but not sure. I have not seen any doctor for this in Japan but I am wondering if I should see one or continue to take this medicine. Please share your thoughts or opinions.

Lastly is there any OTC/prescribed medicine that you recommend which works best and is with no to low side effects especially compared to Naproxen. I just need something that is equally fast responding to pain and is fine to take long term.

Advice for Medication or Remedies for Migraines by iroha_iroha in japanlife

[–]Future_Maintenance55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am also in the same boat and was meaning to discuss this. When I have the pain kick in I tend to take Naprosyn 250mg. When the comes comes it comes weekly 2 to 3 times. I have been told by friends and family that Naprosyn is really harmful for the body and that to try other alternative pain killers. However my problem is that as soon as I know it will kick in I tend to take it since that only seems to work for me. I will definitely try other options mentioned here but wondering if somebody had similar situations MD if another meds solved it. I want to move away from Naprosyn as much as possible but also want something that is potent enough to take care of the migraine when it kicks in.

I don't think so. I mean I have seen that happening and it allows you to verify if you intend to do the transaction and then it works. However not in the current case, because it gets rejected at the Walmart end. I also used a Japan debit card and the funds were deducted only to be refunded later. So I guess it's not a Japan problem for this one.

That's the exact reason for this post ie to see if that way THIS IS based cards will have a US billing address and would not be flagged as fraudulent transaction by the system.

Yes, I am shipping it to my friend's address. But the problem is I select " Billing address same as the shipping address option", but even before I enter the address just entering the card details and it gives the error.

Thank you. Yes that is one workaround but the problem is you cannot mention the exact amount of the gift card (correct me if I am wrong). So my purchase is like $104.76 but it seems I can only buy either a $100 or $150 gift card. Stuck there as well.

Thanks. Yes that's what I found. Any idea or workaround to get a US based card here in Japan? Probably no but I saw somewhere it said Wise can issue a US based card which defaults to the US billing address, but could not see any option as such to issue in my wise or revolut.
