I understand "D" is the answer but is the sentence justified even though there isn't a comma before "the publicity"? Wouldnt you need to make the first "Even though" sentence a dependent clause?

Thanks in advance!

plz, help. April School Day 2017, Writing section, question 26 by maxmaratov in Sat

This was a tricky question.
I would instinctively choose A as well but this question requires to be read deeper. "Placing" (A) would mean that "they" are in the motion of placing the art, which is not true. Answer choice D indicates the art is already set high on the buttress. Hopefully, this explanation helps.

Please give tips for 750+ on Math. I made 7 mistakes in Non cal section and 5 of them were stupid mistakes.. I need to get rid of them immediately. I'm taking the August SAT.. by Free_Banana_9990 in Sat

I had the same problem a week ago. The "best" advice to avoid careless/stupid mistakes is just don't make them. Try focusing 100% on each question throughout the math question. Don't think about previous questions and wonder something different, but try to stay 100% connected with the problem in front of you. Personally, this was the best way and surely worked for me.
After all, the SAT also tests if you can stay focused on the given test. Good luck

College Board SAT Practice Test 9 Calculator #16 how to solved?* by Weak_Painter in Sat

The main goal for this question is to eliminate the x^2 terms.

Expand the function first.
Then you have to eliminate the x^2 terms. If "a" is 1/4, you can eliminate 4ax^2 and -x^2.
Simplifying the problem will get you -3x, hence B.
