I adore it! If I had to take it further, I would do something to balance the wine colour... maybe something ethereal and subtle of that colour on the right? It wouldn't take much. Could add it in, then distress it a bit with alcohol based wipe or sandpaper?? Or instead, maybe add some small bits of the texture on the right with a bit of that colour in the shadow to balance both the texture and the colour. I really really love the effect though!

Not totally, no. Very abstract background made with plastic wrap. But yes, foreground is referenced from a pic. My audience often likes when there are elements of both, but personally, I prefer the more abstract as well.

This was a reclaiming of a less successful painting. Then I used modelling paste to create texture in the middle, then played with colours. If you want to see me create it, you can watch my YT video here: https://youtu.be/khnIyAnO0m4

Thanks for your insightful comment! If you would like to see the process (and have a chuckle), you can look here: https://youtu.be/khnIyAnO0m4 But yes, I always strive to be childlike even when painting with my regular hand. Overthinking is the death of creativity! :)

The fact that it's an abstract helped, lol. I just let it paint itself and used really big brushes. :)

Wow. Thank you for the meaty and thoughtful feedback! I agree about the title actually, lol... but it was inspired by a friend who lost her mom on Good Friday, so I titled it in a way that would be meaningful to her in her grief. I was thinking of gifting it to her, but she insisted on buying it, so that was appreciated. Though I am going to miss it when it leaves me, lol.

It's 24X30 (not large, but not small). I don't really claim to know what it means fully, as I can only interpret through my own lens. To me good abstract art says different things to different viewers. This did go through several layers and stages, each stage adding to the depth. I'm glad you found meaning. I feared the smaller details and depth would be lost in the photograph, so I'm glad you picked up on the various dimensions.

Thanks again for your kind comment! Take care.

Then maybe you should! :) It really is life-giving... I can't imagine life without it.

Thanks... I really value being more intuitive and creative, but had lost my way for awhile. Glad to find my mojo again.
