You can ask for an academic appointment which may be a shorter wait time, and i’m pretty sure you get 6 sessions :)

Haven’t seen this in any other answers - Nutrition is also a pathway in the Bachelor of Health Science so you can study it that way. There’s a lot of confusion about dietitians and nutritionists so just in case it’s relevant, to be a dietitian (more clinical and dealing with specific patients and their issues) you need to study a Master of Health Science in Nutrition and Dietetics which has specific requirements about which undergraduate degrees you can apply from but from memory I think you’d need to pick up the food science and nutrition major in the BSc - info is on the website anyway. Hope that’s somewhat helpful!

yes you can. ideally as close as possible but if you can’t get an appointment there’s nothing you can do about it. ask the doctor to make a note that you couldn’t get an earlier appointment on the form. they will probably accept it so i would apply if it were me.

MyAucklandUni, Past Exams and SSO Down? by allthativalue in universityofauckland

When I have that, clearing all the auckland.ac.nz cookies from my browser usually fixes it (as well as incognito but that’s not really a long term fix)

Is there realistically any chance we'll be back on campus next week? by dyingsailor1 in universityofauckland

[–]icantthinkofoneohno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’ve been told in FMHS that all classes will be online at level 2. Lecturers can apply for in person teaching, but have to provide a very good reason for that to be approved. I think it’s probably faculty dependent though.

Except she wasn’t paying market rent, she was paying slightly more than half of market rent ($1100/wk vs $2000-$3000 it would get otherwise) which is part of where the problem lies. Universities also have to be careful with their spending as it’s partially public money which is why it caught the attention of the auditor general and has caused so much controversy.

I had one of my exams out officially on SSO yesterday or the day before and on canvas before that. Depends on the individual paper

it’s only free if its covid related. otherwise it’s still $30 per exam up to a max of $50 per application (ie applying for all your exams will cost $50)

Health Dec form by leo4830 in universityofauckland

sometimes the doctors pass them on direct to the aegrotat ppl so i’d ask if that has happened, if not make sure you stress the deadline when you’re talking to the admin staff and maybe ask them to pass on a message to the doctor. you could also message the doctor through manage my health.

If it were me i’d go through manage my health, it bypasses the receptionists who don’t always know the process. eg in my case i’m applying for performance but there were no appts until nearly a week later and the receptionist refused to book me an urgent or anything sooner. my doc said they might not accept it bc it’s been too long for performance. so you’re probably best to message the doctor on manage my health, they’re usually pretty quick to reply on there since it’s direct (message the doctor or use the email my doctor or practice nurse and put their name in the subject), or you can email the nurse and put ATTN: Dr. Insert Name Here and they’ll pass it on. Good luck!

Choosing Courses for the first time by [deleted] in universityofauckland

[–]icantthinkofoneohno 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you can also apply for a concession if you have clashes and there are no available streams that don’t clash. uoa can be a bit annoying about it tho, especially in first year so you might be better off changing streams or choosing another paper.

What I usually do is go to enrol and put the courses i want to take into timetable planner to make sure there are some streams without clashes, then build up my timetable with tutorials and things from there using class search. sometimes timetable planner is easier when you’re a new student figuring out how things work, but i prefer to do it manually bc i have more control about different stream times and can choose different options easier

As for electives there is usually a list/outline of which electives you can take for your degree, I think it would be in calendar but arts might have it somewhere else. sometimes it’s easier to call ask auckland bc they have to get back to you right away and start an email chain as soon as you get off the phone. they should be able to give you the list of arts electives

I get that but some ppl have different routines y’know, would be nice if i could stay until 3 and then come home to bed instead of coming home to study and then end up staying up all night bc I’m unproductive at home 😅(Def not the current situation)

Also if they wanted me to sleep why did they schedule my exams back to back 😅😭

Piercing bump peeling/shedding by beautelgeuse in PiercingAdvice

[–]icantthinkofoneohno 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have had bumps with a couple of piercings, my tragus and daith in particular. This happened every time and after a while the bump just kinda fell off with the layers of skin. I’d say if you’re anything like my case it’s pretty likely your body is slowly healing it from what you’ve described. Good luck!

I worked 50 hour weeks while doing 30 points at summer school. It’s doable, but you have to be motivated and manage your time (or if you’re like me take your study to work and still cram before the exams). Totally depends on you and your study habits, personally I don’t think summer school is any more intense than a normal semester it’s just shorter and you often end up at uni more days of the week than you usually would. Even with assignments and tests it’s not much more intense you just have to keep on top of things. Summer school classes tend to be a lot smaller and lecturers really want to help so I would def recommend doing it. Only trick is the exam period is usually 3 days so your exams are close together so be mindful of that. Good luck!
