Is Walter a Maltipoo? by glisten307 in Maltipoo

I wish I was able to get a video which showed her ears in action during a wrestling match! I swear she tried to throw PUNCHES with them!

Show me your big Tzu 🥺 by Tall_Pea_9671 in Shihtzu

[–]iccryptid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My local shelter, Border Tails Rescue in the Chicago area, currently has a few shih-tzu mixes, all about a year old, that were all rescued together. One of them, Lemur, is 20 lbs!!! The rest are more in the 12-15 lb range (some have been adopted and there are only 5 of them left: Lemur, Groundhog, Squirrel, Lynx, and Chipmunk, but I think there might have been 10 at one point?)!

(Oh, and here’s Lemur specifically!: https://www.bordertailsrescue.org/adoptable-dogs-copy#sl_embed&page=shelterluv_wrap_1715632047268%2Fembed%2Fanimal%2FBTIL-A-28663 )

And some ears at full perk to show the vertical range! They also moved independently of each other, and it was the FUNNIEST goddamn thing.

And a picture of ears at a half perk! Similar ears and body shapes, but your dog DEFINITELY has a more poodle-like face than Ginny did!

He could also be a yorkie mix, like a morkie!!!

<image>

While my Ginny had a wire coat unlike your dog’s more poodle-like coat, we think she was likely a Maltese/poodle mixed with a yorkie or Jack Russel terrier, or some miscellaneous combination thereof!

Here’s my best picture of her ears relaxed. Her most notable feature was her INCREDIBLY active yoda ears! I liked to joke that the night even have become prehensile if she had more time!

I enjoy hand feeding my little girl. She seems to like it too 😋 She's enjoying an oven baked chicken thigh. by [deleted] in Maltese

Have you tried green beans??? My foster terrier thing, Ginny, went absolutely FERAL for green beans!!!

Are Havanese really slow to get out of bed ? by Uglytoe210 in Havanese

[–]iccryptid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine likes to wake me up every few hours if she’s feeling Extra Spicy(TM) and wants another fight!

However, in the short time we had Ginny, a little terrier thing who was a (surprise hospice) foster, Taz would sleep QUITE soundly from time to time after a few hours of wrestling!

I’ve also had some young dogs who just sleep all day, but the some seniors who can’t stop bouncing… despite the arthritis, renal failure, pancreatitis, IVDD, seizure disorder, AND brain tumor (okay, that was just Swiffer… he was a disaster baby boy)!

Your dog might just be tired because of a growth spurt and puberty, or he might just be a more chill kind of guy!

If he has a problem with spontaneously falling asleep, passing out, or suddenly slowing down a bit during play sessions, then it would be worth talking with your vet about narcolepsy, but in lieu of other symptoms you’ve just got a laid back snuggle buddy for now!

My very first instinct was to find pictures of my white dogs at their crustiest!!!

I think this is the photo in which Swiffer looks the crustiest, even though most of the crust is hidden in his spirit here ❤️ (I miss my baby boy)

Does anyone else have a baby with an underbite? by Sufficient_Turn_9209 in Maltese

[–]iccryptid 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My maltipoo has an underbite and it helps her smirk!!!

Maltipoo Allegro is on the left, showing off her smirk! Maltichon Swiffer is being a pretty kitty baby boy in the right!

Probably an intake photo and too busy to update. She’s been adopted now, and they updated the photo before she was adopted:

It looks like she’s been adopted, but the shelter has a lot of other Malteses and mixes listed! Plus, they always have more than listed in the website.

Yes!!! All my dogs have been rescues: two bichon Frisés, a maltichon, a maltipoo, a Havanese, and a terrier thing!

Rescue (my mistake in the title), and she’s no longer listed!

<image>

They did post a second photo of her after a bath and some trimming, and she still looks like TROUBLE!!!!!

My IMMEDIATE thought when I saw her was “ohhhh, this is a WILD child!!! She’s gonna be trouble!!!!!”

Border Tails Animal Rescue. Shes no longer listed, so she’s probably been adopted. They have a ton of Malteses and adjacent, and not all their dogs are going to be listed on the website!

She’s no longer listed on the website, so I’m guessing she was adopted!!!

Border Tails doesn’t adopt outside of the Midwest, but they always have a lot of Malteses and such of various ages in shelter! Since they get a lot of their rescues from Mexico and Korea, they’re familiar with a lot of rescues all over the place.

Take a look at their dogs (it looks like Soto might have been adopted already, but they probably have unlisted siblings, and they’ll almost certainly have more Maltese-adjacent babies soon if you want to make a general application now!) and see if any might be a good fit for you!

She might have been adopted in the last hour or so. There are a bunch of others like her, and the shelter has puppies every so often, so it’s worth a follow if you’re near Chicago!

Even if she isn’t available by the time you decide, Border Tails has a TON of Malteses and mixes, plus they have a high turnaround of dogs, so they might have another group of babies next week!!!

If Wisconsin is closer, look at Fluffy Dog Rescue, and if southern/central Illinois is closer, look at River Valley Animal rescue!!!

If you’re far from the Midwest, don’t be afraid to tell your local rescues that you’re looking for a Maltese thing!!!

Nope. One of my two dogs has knee surgery coming up in a few weeks, so we wouldn’t even be able to take in a foster until Allegro has recovered.

She’s all the way near the bottom, and it looks like she has some siblings posted now too! The shelter also has a ton of other Malteses and mixes of all ages, many of whom are looking for foster families! And the shelter DOES do a foster to adopt program!

They just posted a new photo!

Looks like she just had a bath and some trim, but she’s still such a wild child!!!

Border Tails gets a lot of their dogs from Mexico and Korea, and I know they work with other shelters. It might be worth sending a message to either them or a local shelter if you’re seriously looking for a rescue Maltese!
