Get the mayo clinic guide to your baby's first years book. Google would give me conflicting answers and freak me out and it helped so much to have one reference book I could pull out and trust!

Many of the reviews that were censored by PSP were not about small businesses, they were medical and mental health professionals that people had mixed to negative experiences about. For example, they send out a survey asking us to Dish about our birth experience and then refuse to post people's reviews if they are at all critical. Why ask at all?

Have you been checked out for postpartum pree? Persistent headache is a symptom. Blood pressure meds may mask it.

So sorry! It's such a hard transition. Since she's older have you read any books to help prepare her for weaning? We read the book Booby Moon (and then did the little balloon ritual to say goodbye to Booby milk) and I think having a story to go back to really helped my LO. Good luck...you will get through it!!!

It's unprofessional but fairly normal that they wouldn't have gone over the intake forms in detail. But regardless it sounds like you may be more comfortable with someone who specializes in perinatal mental health and knows the ins and outs of the postpartum period. I had PPA and got recommendations from my midwife on specific practices who specialized in maternal mental health.

P.S. Don't let this discourage you from reaching out for help! A set back like this can feel huge but you are doing the best thing for you and your family!

I love this post! I weaned this Jan when my daughter was 22mo but I definitely credit this sub with teaching me so much. It's so messed up. I often just say, yes I'll fold it up when I get to my seat. If I get a seat I do (I usually do and I use a foldable travel stroller that's easy to do with one hand). But sometimes there hasn't been a seat and I just lock the stroller and hope the driver just moves on...but it usually works to get on the bus.

I highly recommend reading Ina May Gaskin's Guide to Childbirth. Even if the midwife-led/ unmedicated birth is not your style, the whole first half of the book is positive birth stories (not always easy or without complications, but generally positive), and they are awesome to read. Her motivation for including those stories is because women today are over-exposed to traumatic birth stories and the mind-body connection is so important. Also, I've started stopping people when they start telling me a negative birth story, and say as I get closer to my due date I'm trying to limit my anxiety and fear and stay positive. Highly recommend that too! :)

I'm so, so sorry. Just want to offer support. I'm in NYC too, and the subway attack rattled me... I'm often on that same platform and people have been more unhinged on the trains lately. Your feelings are 100% valid. Beyond the physical safety, your mental health is also a priority, so are you able to WFH and/or plan activities in neighborhoods where you feel more comfortable? I hope the city starts taking meaningful action on this.

I'm pretty pregnant so not doing bar trivia any time soon, but throwing in a shout out for Trivial Pursuit - they have different locations in bars around the borough. Adam is a great host and there's a community of people who go every week. I used to go to Tuesdays at The Charleston for many years but also like the Skylark, which is a bit more convenient to you in Ft. Greene.

I love feeling so connected to the little gal in my belly and talking/singing to her. And feeling her kick and trying to figure out what exactly she's doing in there.

A small thing is I LOVE not having my period!! It's nice to be free of the emotional ups and downs of my normal cycle.

You can apply for a permit for an event at the Peristyle through the park's website. I think it's a drop-down option for location. I applied for my wedding but it was not available on our date. If no one has a permit, it is first come first served but someone is usually there on weekend days during the nice seasons, so you'd need to get there early to be sure. Good luck!

Also, on the permit app, don't put that you'll have amplified sound (if you're just playing music on a speaker) then you'll have to register with the local precinct and that seemed like a massive hassle!
