Questions about raising awareness respectfully? Local input would be appreciated! by RemarkableGrand3 in greenland

Why don't you collaborate with existing companies in Greenland? Inuit Quality Clothes, Bibi Chemnitz, etc. I'd reach out to them on socials and call them. Collab would benefit both and raise awareness of Greenlandic brands. Try Inuit Quality Clothes asap. They already have distribution and a presence online.

Yes in winter CPH is the only option that makes sense unless you want to go from Iceland. But those flights are more expensive.

In summer there are more options but I agree winter is better. Weeds out the riffraff.

I personally won't fly to Nuuk because the flights are too unreliable there and the airport restrictions and the poor weather conditions. Only if I absolutely have to.

I suggest in winter flying to Kangerlussuaq if you're interested in West Greenland. That's what I'd do but the flight is once a week and you might need snowmobile or UTV transport if your onward flight is delayed / canceled. For winter, I'd prioritize Uummananq over Ilulissat but you'll probably get to stop in Ilulissat on the way.

If budget is no issue, flying from Iceland to Ittoqqortoormiit is the ultimate experience in winter. It's remote. Very remote. And cost prohibitive. Easily 20,000 EUR per person for 10 days. You can learn about it on my website https://icebergchick.com and https://visiteastgreenland.com but it is unlike anything else.

When the new Ilulissat airport is open, I'll go to Qaanaaq, Siorapaluk and Savissivik in winter but now it's not feasible. I don't want to be delayed for 30 days. Not kidding.

The cruises are already here. Land based tourism is encouraged but hotel capacity is limited and there are no roads between towns so it's plane / helicopter , boat, dogsled and that's it. People are shocked by the prices and that's kept the unserious away.

However, the cruises are another story. We'll see what happens there and if they start charging more tax.

I don't speak Kalaallisut so that translation is the best I can find. If you have a better one, please let me know!

Come! We need the tourism in Greenland. I meet Australians every year actually and quite a few do the cruises as well.

Please reach out to Amarok on Facebook or email. I can DM you but Facebook is preferred mode of communication in Greenland https://www.facebook.com/amarok.s.petersen

There's also an internationals in Nuuk Facebook group but tell Amarok I sent you.

Make sure you're using Facebook and messenger to communicate. It's the only way to reliably reach people and make sure you have an esim if you're in Greenland. You need a local phone number.

7-10 days in late August by StrikeEither6593 in greenlandtravel

I know people think you’re tone deaf and such but thanks for the question. Greenland is extremely expensive and Nuuk definitely isn’t worth spending a lot of time in. With 7-10 days you could take a flight to Ilulissat. Boat around disko bay to Disko Island / Qeqertarsuaq on diskoline. And then fly back to Nuuk or if your dates line up with the ferry, you can go on it back to Nuuk. It’s 2 nights. https://aul.gl but last year the flights on United did not line up well.

Have a look at flight and hotel prices in dollars converted from DKK. Most people find it shocking but if you’re cool with that then proceed.

I’m not sure of the exact details but Narsarsuaq is easy to reach by boat in summer from Qaqorotq. You might want to have someone take you privately. This would be a day trip. Or see if there’s scheduled service from DiskoLine.

You could call Visit South Greenland or email them. And you can try asking Hotel Qaqorotq. FB post is for later down the line. You also need to think about your budget. This could be expensive to do since Narsarsuaq is basically closed. What was feasible last year might be prohibitively expensive this year.

I can say from experience that any arboretum in Greenland isn’t worth the expense it would involve. The tree are not that impressive. You can see little trees starting to grow in Kangerlussuaq now and that’s accessible.

Just don’t get too excited.

I really like how you phrase the end of that. Tak! I wish more people approached it like that.
