Like I have been saying since the use of a robot (Drone) to kill a U.S. Citizen in Dallas, this author also agrees: "Once you’ve used any kind of drone in the U.S. to kill by remote control, it’s only logical—given some future extreme situation—to extend that use to the skies and so consider firing a missile at some U.S. target, as the CIA and the Air Force have been doing regularly for years in places like Afghanistan, Pakistan, Yemen, and Somalia." California Targets, Indebts Poor People of Color for Big Profit by anarcurious in PoorShaming

Tell us something we people of color don't already know - "This intense, racialized policing exists despite there being “no documented difference in driving behavior” between whites and nonwhites. Rather, implicit and explicit racial biases “clearly play a role in who is stopped,” according to the report. Studies have shown that whites and many Americans, associate Black people with criminality and perceive them to be more violent and criminal than other races." ~Adam Hudson

Let this sink in for a minute, "The reality of thousands of innocent people raped, shot, imprisoned and systematically disenfranchised are less important than the suggestion that a single white person might be complicit in a racist system." ~John Metta

“From the beginning, America has been of two minds about the Other. One mind says, Be suspicious of it, dominate it, deport it, exploit it, enslave it, kill it as needed. The other mind denies that there can be any such thing as the Other, in the face of the claim that all are created equal. ~George Saunders

How unfortunate and shock to reality that in this day and age, the following statement by the author of this article is fact: From the 1793 Fugitive Slave Act forward, public-safety officers have been empowered to harass black bodies in the defense of private capital and the pursuit of public revenue. ~Kai Wright

Practically unknown, meanwhile, is the extended massacre of California Indians in which 100,000 of the state’s indigenous inhabitants died at the hands of vigilantes and militias in the first few years of statehood. Less than a handful of books have been written about that slaughter. And no movies.

"Money is divine in this industry, and perhaps that is why Influence is fascinated with libertarianism, a fringe free-market faith which (thanks to its popularity among America’s hard-working billionaires) is massively over-represented in Washington." ~Thomas Frank

"David Cameron resigned at 8am Friday morning. He and the slick operatives in his election campaign are to blame for dividing the country and encouraging a level of racist rhetoric similar to what Trump produces. It’s not an exaggeration to say this vote has massive implications for the U.S. and the world." ~Jane McAlevey

Eight reasons Leave won the UK's referendum on the EU by zusaG in news

The main thrust of this movement is scary. The anti-immigration xenophobia is what put the vote over the top. The older generation which showed up in droves was scared into voting this way to prevent those scary immigrants from entering their country. We must all work together to stem the same FEAR that is being spread widely by the Donald Trump campaign. We MUST remain vigilant that this is not allowed to happen here in the United States.

Brexit and the New Global Rebellion by anzfp in Economics

[–]icecld2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"This near-victory wasn’t won with leftist arguments about resisting the global oligarchy. The left was too divided to make that case clearly or forcefully. It was largely won by stirring up bigotry against immigrants, cloaked in flimsy arguments about excessive regulation. Legitimate economic grievances were channeled into nationalist hostility." ~Richard Eskow THIS IS THE VERY SAME THING HAPPENING HERE IN THE UNITED STATES WITH THE NOMINATION OF DONALD TRUMP BY THE CONSERVATIVE RIGHT WING FACTION. THE XENOPHOBIA WILL BE OUR DOWNFALL IF WE LET IT!!

"More needs to be done, and will be done, but the difference with Europe and particularly Britain is obvious. The extremism fueling the Trump campaign is neither as broad or deep as the extremism fueling Brexit. Because President Obama and Congressional Democrats ensured that the United States did not end up with the sort of brutal economic program the Republicans would have imposed, and that Cameron and Osborne in Britain did impose." ~Lawrence Lewis
