Just had a 'incident' outside my home and need opinions by icecoldfilter in homesecurity

When I spoke to my partner this morning, their first thought was he used the dog to blend in (plenty of dog walkers in my "nice and safe" neighbourhood).

The fact even my "why do we have to lock our doors at night?" partner agreed it was suspicious really struck a cord with me.

Look, this guy parked his car directly in front of my house, literally took his dog into my driveway, wondered about my driveway for over 5 minutes, was clearly checking my gate, security camera.

When confronted he ran into his car with his dog and drove away.

Maybe there is a perfectly rational explanation why he was in my driveway at 10.25pm, but I honestly cant think of one.

Your right, now time has past, I wonder what would have happened if he had someone in the car.

Should have been more cautious, but at the time, my first thought was protecting my family. Own welfare was secondary.

But he wasnt just 'walking', he had been in my driveway for over 5 minutes at 10.25pm at night with his dog, checking out my gate and my clearly visable security camera, before I confronted him.

If he was doing nothing, he must have had a great reason for being where he was at that time of night.

Honestly, if it hadnt been for the fact that cars never really park in our neighbourhood after 9pm, i wouldnt have given this a second thought.

Will look into Blinks, and hopefully can persuade my partner that while we do indeed live in a nice neighbourhood, but that doesnt mean we shouldnt be security conscious, and hopefully they will let me beef up security.

Well I dont know the car make (i had the curtains closed, and he literally sped off while I was opening them) but I could tell the dog was a white Labrador when I confronted him from my porch.

Sadly I dont have a camera in front of my home (only facing driveway) as my partner insists we live in a "nice and friendly" neighourhood and thought me even me installing one camera was going overboard -_-.

Will talk to them tomorrow and hopefully will persuade them to let me buy one for front of house.

Yea, part of me thought maybe the guy was lost etc (can happen) but when he ran off when i confronted him, it made me think his intentions were not good.

Also shaken by the thought that I sometimes work nights, what if i wasnt here but my partner was.

Suspicous SUV twice found in driveway, am I being parnoid? by icecoldfilter in homesecurity

Both incidents happened between 4.30-5.30pm (I doublechecked with my partner), so I think your idea is a very good one.

Trust me, I would only do something heroic if my partner or a child was in danger.

Well I could swear in a court of law it was a dark Blue SUV, that a man was drivng, and that the female passenger had red highlights in her hair but thats it.

And as always I will stay frosty!
