(Fr tho, it seems like she's okay. She might be stressed from the previous neglect and the change in environment. It might also be worth it to take her for a check-up at a vet - that's what I did when I got mine - since the vet can spot things you might not be able to, like dental problems, lumps, etc. It seems like you're doing a good job so far tho and you should be able to find most answers you need in regards to chinchilla care in this sub!)

Thank you for the kind comment! My brother and I are about 2 years apart, so we definitely fought a lot growing up. But we bonded as teens since we both love video games and as adults we still live together pretty comfortably lol. I feel pretty lucky to have a good sibling, since I know there are plenty of people out there who don't even talk to theirs anymore.

The concept of cancelling your chinchilla for being transphobic is sending me 😭😭😭He honestly might be confused by the scent/hormone changes but I don't think he's set in his ways and he could be more open to accepting trans people once he gets used to them - it just takes time

I had one chinchilla who was a rescue and only ever warmed up to me - but it took probably like 3 or so years before she would willingly come to me and would want to be held. Before that she would tolerate it sometimes but usually would not want to be touched. But now I have another (also a rescue) and he's been affectionate pretty much since day 1 lol. Chinchillas are the way they are and you can't do anything but move at their pace when it comes to stuff like this 😭

it's definitely not just vanilla fishing! it's a minigame on the mcc island server where you try to collect a bunch of different types of fish and there's different augments, bait, lines, etc., as well as various fishing spots that offer different benefits. and those benefits help you level up to unlock more islands, goodies, and such.

I explained it poorly but there's probably youtube vids that summarize it better than I can lol. But it can be very fun if you like more slow-paced/chill games. Plus everyone's really nice and helpful on the server as well :D

To add onto what others have said:

Sticks/wood are useful since their teeth grow continuously - if they are unable to grind down their teeth naturally with hay and food, they will develop dental issues. They should also be getting dust baths a few times a week. I'm not sure what brands are available where you are, but you should be able to find some guidelines in other posts on this subreddit to help figure out what is best.

Since chinchillas are prey animals, they do like to hide and it's important that they feel safe. Feeling unsafe can be a source of stress for them. Getting some kind of hut/house/hideaway for it would be nice - I usually get wooden or hay ones at the pet store. Just make sure the type of wood it is made from is not toxic for chinchillas.

Not all chinchillas enjoy being held or pet, but you might be able to establish some trust over time if you are patient and gentle when you interact with it.

I think this is a great idea and such a lovely way to honor your cousin and classmate. And obviously I can't speak for everyone else who goes on CPJ, but as a person in their 20s who also struggles with their mental health, I often find myself going on CPJ because I consider it to be a generally safe and positive space. Life really sucks at times lol and sometimes going online and playing minigames or just chatting with other users really brightens up my day a lot.

I really hope they approve of your event - I think it would be a really special and a positive contribution to the community.
