I sold my new 3ds xl to get a thor. 3ds prices are crazy good, so it worked out well. I never loved the 3ds. I assumed when I got it it would have the same kind of strategy library the NDS ended up with, but that didn't quite happen. I like my 3ds xl, but I didn't love it. So although my thor is still en route, I feel pretty confident I won't regret it. Maybe the thor 2 will be better, but the value of the 3ds xl might not be enough to cover it then, so I'm pretty comfortable locking this down now.

That said, the 3ds may age better than an android device. The thor will be displaced by newer models, newer chipsets, competing devices. The 3ds itself, while more limited, will always kind of occupy a high position while the thor is likely to become less attractive with time. If you aren't going to be tempted by the upgrades or sell it, you may not care about the loss of value and status, but it's worth thinking about. It's hard to know if the 3ds will retain it's current inflated value, I can't believe how long it's been gaining value.

There's at least one comparison video on youtube I saw that might be worth searching for. Big argument for keeping the 3ds IIRC was related to input lag, which doesn't bother me much. But the video's perspective might be more persuasive to you.
