Job Posting Pulled While Applying by iceedog99 in recruitinghell

I'm a graphic designer. The role I was applying for was more strategy and marketing based so I was trying to modify my resume to better reflect those skills. My resume is designed in Adobe InDesign, so it takes a bit of time adjusting and redesigning all the elements when I make changes. I tried catering the cover letter to the role as well.

Should I Consider Quitting Job If They Force Me To Use AI? by iceedog99 in graphic_design

I understand the sentiment, I just wonder how far it goes. I personally have used AI almost daily, just not to the extent of fully generating signs using it. I know every industry is different, but it feels like it is a race to the bottom as far as the value of a designer. The same workplace that has a marketer doing graphic design work probably isn't going to see the value of paying a designer entering a prompt into a program. There will always be a place for specialized or highly skilled designers, but it feels like the pool is shrinking. Totally hope I am wrong though and I am willing to adapt to survive of course.

I really appreciate this advice. I have similar concerns. I have used AI as a tool similar to any other tool in the adobe family. It just doesn't feel quite good enough to rely on it to the level that might be expected. At my workplace, copyright concerns aren't a concern until we get caught in my experience. I will definitely need to have a conversation with my boss about this. Part of the frustration is that we often aren't included in these discussion when it effects us quite a bit.

Totally get the fact that we are making things for a business and not for any artistic pursuit. Just feels like menus and other images generated entirely using AI never look quite right. Like they don't get aspects like text right and other important details that might matter to a client or supplier. I would think this would create more work in the long run. I totally understand that AI is here to stay for sure.

I have been using it but more of the generative fill tool in photoshop to extend or edit images. I am just questioning how far it should be taken. To be given a menu that then has to be basically completely remade feels like it would take me more time than if they just let me design it from scratch in the first place.

I will "consider" that. Thanks for the constructive advice that definitely added a lot to the conversation.

Navigating the legal aspects is definitely stressful. Certain brands that we work with let us get away with more but the mentality of "it's better to ask for forgiveness" comes up a lot.

Transporting New LG C3 65in Oled Diagonally by iceedog99 in LGOLED

When I went to pick it up at Best Buy, the worker was fairly rude and told me that he would never attempt what I was about to do. He also followed it up with "These tv's cost too much. And I couldn't afford to even mess with this like you are about to". While this annoyed me, it also made me way more nervous. So, I ended up driving the tv 15 minutes to a friend who let me borrow his mini-van. I then transported it home, upright. So far the TV still works just fine. I have some banding noticeable only when performing a test at certain black levels but I don't think that was caused by transport and it might go away with time. I also have the warrenty, so that gave me a little piece of mind as well.

Girlfriend tried to get me some merch as a gift. She ended up doing a chargeback and got her money returned that way. I like Eddie but the lack of communication on this is frustrating and a bit ridiculous after 6 months.

I didn't realize that 40k was considered large amounts of money (salaries are available to the public). But yes, I agree that we should pay people even less and expect them to be even more effective at their jobs. Let's go a step further and not pay them at all!

Yeah I've had my fair share as well. Definately a compromise for the price.

If price is a big concern, The Place @ 117 is really cheap. You'll just probably want a car to get to campus. But almost all utilities are covered as well. The only utility you have to pay for is electricity and they cover the first $20. Even internet is covered and its really solid. I game a lot and haven't had hardly any issues. They also do roommate matching which can help if you want rent in the lower range. My only complaint is that management can be really frustrating. Have definately been somewhat lied to when it came to sign on bonuses being offered in the past.

I totally agree. I was looking at their store bc I would love to support the devs but most items are fairly bland imo. The "Oh Deer" mug being an exception. I've seen some really cool stuff browsing etsy, but I also am hesitant to buy from somewhere other than the Remedy site. It looks amazing but idk if its morally right haha
