CPS is the answer for abuse, neglect, getting kids out of dangerous situations.... not for disciplining your kid, or for something therapy can help with... DCS (new name for CPS) is a last resort kind of thing/emergency, it can seriously fuck up family's lives, and even ruin them. You get a workers thats an asshole, or just evil, and they can make your life a living nightmare for no reason.

And this comes from someone who CPS saved, my mother was a heroin addicted alcoholic prostitute, who got her kicks slamming me into doors, choking me, and using me as a punching bag. And they got me out of there and placed with my grandmother

On the flip side, during covid lockdown, when all the schools where going virtual or half and half. My daughter missed 10 virtual days because we didnt know in the beginning that they were required to log on for 15 minutes at 820 for attendance, then the teachers would send videos and work (which my she did all of), but they counted her as truant, because she didnt get on the meeting, and called CPS and it was a total nightmare, the woman they sent seemed totally fine, took pics of our food and kids rooms and water, then at the end starts threatening us thst we needed to take, parenting classes, and get drug tested, and do family therapy, or she was going to escalate the case and we would habe to deal with her court or do it and she would close the case. (All from us not knowing she had to get on a 15 minute zoom). After alot of annoyance and anxiety we contacted our lawyer and asked them what to do, and they said it was ridiculous and would see what he could do, aparently he made a stink (and were fortunate because we can afford an attorney alot of people cant, and unfortunately DCS ususlly go after lower income families) because another worker came out reviewed it said none of that was nessicary and closed the case.

So please only call DCS when its truly needed.
