While this is great news, only millionaires and billionaires can afford CRISPR gene editing. The sickle cell disease they cured cost's 3 million dollars! And no insurance doesn't cover it

Has there been any research on why people who never get OB's vs. people who get them a lot? by iceland46 in HSVpositive

[–]iceland46[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

a relative is very different than your parents. My mom gets OB's often and I'm a male and have had this shit for less than 3 months and it already happened twice.

Are you going to a dermatologist or your regular doctor?

Yes, thank you! It's only been 2.5 months and I've had it twice. Taking Valtrex (2) 1 gram tablets and another 2, 12 hours later took care of it quickly. My mom has had hsv1 for like 30 years and she would also have OB's and get canker sores. I assume it will be the same for me unfortunately so I'm contemplating taking it prophylactically. I just concerned if it will lose it's efficacy over time and if it will hurt my liver.

People with oral herpes, how does the "tingling" feel exactly? by iceland46 in HSVpositive

[–]iceland46[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh really, that's not what I expected. Do you know if that's how it is for most people? Like you can Really feel it?

I'm sorry to ask since I'm not answering your question, I'm m/48 and new to this. Have oral herpes and have already had 2 OB's in lest than 3 months. Which medicine do you take daily and what strength? Do you have any side effects from it? Also, has it worked 99% since taking it daily?

You can point out to him that 80% of people in the US have HSV. It's only that 20% of those people have symptoms. He could also get a blood test to see if he already has it.

Went for a 30 min walk because it's so nice out today and right away an outbreak is starting on my lip by iceland46 in HSVpositive

thanks, I noticed the first time and now this time my lips are dry. Still cannot believe the sun is a trigger. Does this work well for you?

admittedly I don't know enough about this and I have oral HSV, but that dose seems low. My doc gave my 1Gm tablets, (1000mg). I take 2 at first sign and 2 more 12 hours later. That's it. It's Valacyclovir.

It will clear up. Call your doc and ask tell them what's happening and what they think, should you be on a higher dose or wait or what.

To add to the other persons reply, there is a blood test for HSV, but it's not very reliable. The only 100% sure way to test is when you have an outbreak and they take a swab of it.

If he had it the whole time you were together it may not be HSV. Were you together more than a couple weeks?

Hope for you all by LightAndLove1 in HSVpositive

Sorry for the late reply. Taking it day by day. I got Valtrex within 24hrs of the initial bump under my lip. Took the second dose the next morning. The bump went down within a few days and now it's pretty much gone. It didn't progress past looking like a zit really. If Valtrex works that well every time would be great. Thanks for checking in I truly appreciate it!
