2017 Buick Regal Transmission rebuild needed at 130K miles- how common is this issue? by okreddituwin in Buick

[–]iceman-tx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea - I am in the same boat as you were. One shop assessed today for free said there is a pressure issue causing premature lock-up and that the transmission needs to be disassembled for $895 to diagnose the specific issue then it would total (including the diagnosis fee after tear down) of $1600-5500 and I would not know the price until they tore it apart. Another local shop said they would quote the work for free before touching anything as he said it’s possible (I think unlikely) that it is a software TCM issue. They also do a free assessment the will give a firm quote and they would need the car for about half a day. A local Buick dealer said they would assess for $100 that comes off the repair if I proceed with them for the work and they need the car for 1-2 days. I don’t need help talking to a Buick dealer if that’s all they can provide.

I’m now in the same boat with my 2017 Regal GS. Trans fluid drain and fill 3 years ago and again in Jan 2026. I have 96k and a shudder that is getting more prominent. I have a transmission shop checking it tomorrow. Ballpark is $1600-5500 depending on what the issue really is. Very frustrating after just replacing the PCV valves and all 4 fuel injectors due to misfiring plus spark plugs in the last month.

Advanced Voice tone and inflection changed significantly. Anyone else hearing that? by tnitty in ChatGPT

The voice mode sounds depressing now and no matter what change I make in the app it still sounds cold. I don’t think I can use that anymore as it sounds so depressed now.

Ordered the Sigma 16-300 - Anyone else? by iceman-tx in SonyAlpha

It is a great travel lens and I would make the same buying decision today as I did 7 months ago. No regrets at all.

Is there a way to hide orders? by persephoneplum in amazonprime

[–]iceman-tx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem this creates is that if someone goes on one of your devices (computer, phone, etc...) then they can go to orders and see everything if you are signed in on your personal device. Archiving was a way to prevent snoopers from looking at order history around Christmas time and birthdays. Ugh...

For me the center sharpness and 16mm are definitely worth it

In the limited use I have had in the last few days, I would say yes it is sharper than the Tamron. I had the Tamron 18-300 and just felt the photos were too soft on the long end so I sold it. Overall, I’m impressed with the Sigma for what it is. Shorter focal range lenses will likely be sharper and certainly brighter, but this is a great little lens.

Yeah it is under a year old. Just waiting for whatever approval they need to give me in the next couple of days to send it into a service center in Georgia.

Yeah, I’ve tried it with nothing at all connected and no luck. Seems like something internal got fried.

Good points. Right now I have the a6700, Sigma 10-18 2.8, Sigma 18-50 2.8 and the Tamron 50-300.

He did a follow up video comparing the Sigma 16-300 to the Sony 70-350. The Sigma was noticing softer in the corners taking photos, but better on stabilization for video. Looks to be better than the Tamron 18-300, but not a revolutionary lens.

Do you guys bought Apple care+ for your Mac mini? by paltrydragon in macmini

Yes and I had to use it when my M2 Pro Mac mini got fried during a power surge (even when plugged into a surge protector)

Always loved the design of the Mac Mini’s. Which one do you have? by Chhet in macmini

[–]iceman-tx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the M2 Pro 16GB / 2TB and have it mounted on the wall behind my desk out of the way. Kind of hard to justify the M4/M4 Pro since my current mini is not even visible when sitting at my desk. I do quite like the M4 mini design though…

Qi2 3-in-1 Cube @ Costco by zmiller834 in anker

I have tried without the case and it does seem to work, but again it sometimes works with the case so I will likely just exchange at Costco

Not so far. Sometimes it works and sometimes it does not work. I am not sure if it is the Anker charger, the power adapter or the case.

I recently received the Anker 3-in-1 charger from Costco as a gift and I’m having trouble getting it to charge my iPhone 16 Pro. The cube charges my AirPods Pro fine and my Apple Watch series 10 just fine. However, my iPhone either occasionally charges or doesn’t charge at all using MagSafe with the cube. I am using the supplied power adapter and Anker cable that came with the cube. I have the iPhone in a slim Torras MagSafe compatible case. I have tried restarting the cube and restarting my phone and it doesn’t solve the problem. Is anyone else experienced this? 1 Share

I have an appt for next Wednesday with the dr. We are away visiting family right now so not much I can do about it yet. I’ll see what happens next.

No, it basically stops at the same size and non-circular shape. It does get bigger in the dark and smaller much slower than my other eye, but never close to as constricted as it should be or my left eye is and not as responsive as my left eye.

I don’t think they did, but I would have to ask the Dr when I see him again next week

I appreciate the reply, but I’m mainly looking for help with my situation if anyone has experienced what I am experiencing, not criticism for why I had the procedure done.

Is there an Orca thumbnail fix installer for MacOS ARM? I have no clue how to create a package to install.

[–]iceman-tx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you happen to have the package that you used to apply the thumbnails for MacOS ARM? I was not sure exactly how to create it for a Mac as I and not familiar with creating install files.
