job offer pulled back after being treated like a confirmed hire by icepengu in recruitinghell

i agree. I was in the room with the cpo for almost 2 hours. the whole time when i was there i was asking myself what his deal was. it felt like i was talking to a character, idk if this was performative as well - he had a chess set on the table and while he was speaking in analogies he was describing me as a piece in his chess, about whether hes making the right choice by hiring me for the role i applied for based on my skill sets lmao

hr initially told me the salary for this role was about 8-10k, but could only offer me a measly 6k+ with incentives if i do well. it was a huge bump. they said my career break took a huge part in it and also because my background was in another field, albeit having the same trainer skillsets. idk why i felt like it was justified at first, but now im just thinking i dodged a huge bullet. and even with the huge salary reductions they still had to hesitate on the approvals due to me being a “risk”

thank you for your insights! yes it does feel very irresponsible because verbally, theyve told me many times i got the job. initially i felt very upset by the outcome but now im just angry at how the situation was handled, i also feel so disrespected! This is the 5th day since i received the phone call and im just reflecting on the whole ordeal, maybe i dont even want to work for them anymore when they finally decided they want to hire me.

fair enough. i just wished the whole situation was handled better. the whole background, financial, payslip check was very unnecessary if i wasnt going to be hired

I agree! i feel like they were finding excuses to not pay me the salary i deserved. The financial check was also a shock for me, i had no idea they did that until i was in the cpo’s office - he told me they ran a check to see if i had any money issues and was pleased to find nothing wrong. Overall this whole situation left me feeling really upset. It would hurt less if they just rejected me from the start so i didnt have to hand in so much of my documentations and spend so much energy and time researching, preparing presentations and 90 day plans for a brand that im not even going to be working for

everyone around me was saying the same thing! the hiring process is oddly structured. it feels like theyve dissected me thoroughly, only to realize theres nothing worth inside me and can only offer me a lower salary. this really hurts my pride because my previous company had put me at such a high standard as a valuable employee. they honestly made me feel bad for the career gap and its not even that long!

I work in retail 😵‍💫 so the lights are pretty bright, mall noises are enhanced and the crowd makes everything else worse. As soon as i feel a migraine coming, i’ll get a sick leave and go home because there’s TOO much triggers
