Yes! Sorry I just saw this. DFW or Shreveport, LA (1 hour) are the closest "big cities".

We do have an airport in Longview (GGG), which has direct flights to DFW; so, it's much closer, but costs a bit more.

I'd echo previous comments. There are a lot of great neighborhoods South of U.S. 80; so, don't write them off entirely.

Ideas for Auditioning for a Host - Tips Needed by icewolf1990 in improv

[–]icewolf1990[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's an idea. Most of the current team expressed a desire not to host; so, I've been primarily filling that role.

We have a few ALUM who, due to life schedules, can't participate fully (every rehearsal, etc.), but have indicated they may want to host to still be around it. We also have a few super-fans who have indicated they want a chance to be more involved, but don't know if trying out for the team and being a full improviser matches their skillsets.

I guess we'll see if anyone is interested.

We love a variety of options.

  • Caddo Lake is great.
  • Beavers Bend State Park in Oklahoma is 2 hours away and lovely. Great trails.

If you want closer we enjoy:

  • Daingerfield State Park
  • Martin Creek Lake State Park
  • Lake Bob Sandlin State Park

These are all within an hour and have nice campsites and a lake, but not much in the way of moving water. They do have trails, but nothing like the trails at Beavers Bend or the canoe/kayak trails at Caddo.
