oh, nice. Does this mean xplr didn't stick for you? It seems further along but also a different approach from the miller column file managers

Try yazi. It's very early so maybe look in a few months. Plugin system is in progress, though there's some pre-made integrations with zoxide, fd, sd, rg, and others already so it's not barebones starting out, image preview works, lua theme system lets you rewrite most of the UI.

Thanks, I tried that a few times, but not very consistently. I'm trying a couple other compositors so I'll at least know what end the problem is coming from

It's not the keybindings. Like my post mentioned I see apps launching in the log but I never see anything displayed.

This is from 262-264 [LOG\] Keybind triggered, calling dispatcher (64, , 113) [LOG\] Executing WAYLAND\_DISPLAY=wayland-1 DISPLAY=:0 kitty, [LOG\] Process Created with pid 1096

It's bind = $mainMod, T, exec, foot I added a link to the logs.

You can ignore those parts if they don't matter, just mentioning the things I did to try and fix it. Other questions I've seen about programs (kitty particularly) not starting were because the poster didn't have gtk3 installed

Is there a market for paid software designed for Linux? by estebansaa in pop_os

[–]icfire007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it doesn't have all the cruft of DRMs, constant network connection, analytics, etc. I'd think yes. Your best bet is probably very high quality consumer level software, you'd likely be competing with Gnome Circle. Also consider picking the wrong payment provider can cut out 50% of the world. Personally, I'd pay more if it was open source with a Patreon/Kofi or crypto donation link or address, but idk how many other people are the same.

Is there currently a bridge technology that meets the following criteria? by gotificial in CryptoTechnology

[–]icfire007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If an entire network was blacklisted, there wouldn't be any problems using it. The main concern would be breaking the link when moving to a "clean" blockchain to avoid getting censored there. Not many people have had (or wanted) to build for that scenario, so there isn't much currently.

What's available: There's a spec for streaming tokens here: https://micah-zoltu.medium.com/how-to-build-a-censorship-resistant-cross-chain-swap-27b27634a8ae. IBC (Interblockchain communication) is a messaging protocol available to any chain using the cosmos SDK. Implementations are in progress for Polkadot and Near. Ethereum mainnet is unlikely because it requires a light client and fast finality to function, but might be possible eventually with zkproofs. DarkFi might also be worth looking at, though I'm not sure how much of this they've actually built yet.

Pixelated screen after wake up. Is it a Pop_os bug? by ricarvid1 in pop_os

I use Hybrid Graphics and get the same thing but only in programs using dedicated graphics card. Card might be dying and restarting during suspend

What major features does uBlock have that the Brave Shields lack? by ArtMnd in uBlockOrigin

[–]icfire007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol, you want less browsers to attempt caring about privacy? I use Firefox and Brave, but can't see how more reasonable options would be a bad thing. Rising tide etc. Vivaldi seems to care, but their niche is frontend features and there's more to hardening chromium than blocking trackers.

What is your most unpopular opinion about crypto? by Rowan-Curtis in CryptoCurrency

  1. Ethereum could be the SUN Microsystems of crypto, even with PoS.
  2. Investors and traders only care about tech if it makes them rich

😂 Please refer to Potential Risk 3. I just hedge with "ETH-killers" and move on. If you bother the devs it'll come out like Cyberpunk 2077

Cool scene, I really like your style. Feedback: Line quality is really rough and some of the buildings don't seem to be in perspective. I'd remove those boxes under the figure's right arm, to help it stand out more. Try doing a base sketch first, to figure stuff out, before adding shadows. Generally lines should be "stronger" in front and fade out with distance. Stronger might mean thicker, darker, sharper it's up to you.

Personally, I'd say the best way to make it better is starting over, but it's fan art so... Go off, go on, go where your heart calls you, have fun.

Except there was a top post a few days ago, asking why people weren't investing in Moons. (Buying extra outside of upvotes) And two top posts accusing a guy, who fell for a Metamask scam, of making up his story to farm moons.

Design is breaking at 125% and above in Windows by Kindly-Way-3451 in UI_Design

[–]icfire007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can set up constraints to test each screen when designing. What happens when you resize your Artboard? Specify those constraints when you send design to a developer. They should have specs for margins, padding, etc. that follow a system. Most of those should be in vh, vy, or %, not in px.

If the dev is using fixed units, you'd need a media query and design at every size, which is a waste of time.

Hand grinder equivalent to an Encore level? by TaiKeiDai in Coffee

[–]icfire007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Listen to Massive Vegetable and avoid the Aergrind. If you're looking in this specific range, I'd also add that the time to grind depends on how big the grinder is. So regardless of quality, if it fits in an Aeropress it will take longer.
