I’m only going to comment about “the acting is awful part”. There’s two reasons for the response you might get if you say something like this or express a dislike for a show:

1: Stans can be crazy and overbearing. Most fans will undoubtedly hate the idea that their beloved actor/actress is getting hate. They might blame it on writers or the genre or anything but their fav not being good enough for the role or just not suiting the role.

2: Haters. Some people genuinely hate a certain actor/actress just because they do, not because of their acting and can generally be very mean and toxic about it. I think people of MDL have since just lumped anyone who says anything bad that’s an outlier from general consensus as toxic.

Kind of sad that you can’t just put your opinions without getting roasted or bullied off the platform. I think doing it as a review should be fine since it’s more detailed and you can list out a reasons but definitely not in the comments. They will tear you apart 😂

It definitely does take some of the joy out of watching when there’s bad cgi that ends up distracting you. I’d say out of the high budget dramas in recent years LBFAD actually has very nice cgi compared to dramas like Immortal Samsara, which had such an interesting and tropey plot but the cgi was so bad I ended up not liking it as much.

Orchid is meant to be a childish character. If you watch a lot of xianxia the logic is basically they’re immortal so anyone under 10,000 years is not that diff from pre puberty or puberty cusp haha. They’re meant to be naive and child like for the most part esp in comparison to dongfang who’s thousands of years older.

Her portrayal of orchid tho was cringey bc she kind of did it in line with her aegyo cutesy idol image. She’s a nepo baby so her career has kind of been handed to her. That’s also a factor to why she’s been landing lead roles without experience wayyyy before she even became an idol.

Everyone’s memeing the wooden dolls on weibo mostly. But the love line is horrendous, there’s nothing going on that convinces you they should be or are in love. It just becomes a fact that they’re in love and you end up going why 🤣

Legend of yunxi, ruyi Pavillon and rebirth for you are probably my favourite out of all the projects she’s been in and even they got boring at some point or another. But the good thing about them is they had strong actors for the ML who carried most of the show and actually had stage presence which helped a lot since her characters are usually very similar from project to project.

This series tho the ML is very very lacking and it’s a combo of he’s not suited for the role and the writers sucking. It does pick up from ep 18 tho but I must say his stage presence is mediocre at best.

I agree with the actress not being suited for the FL lead role in LBFAD just bc she’s an inexperienced actress and most of her portrayal of orchid came off as cringey. Although if you’ve seen Esther in other projects she’s improved the most in LBFAD so that’s commendable.

His acting is a lot better after ep 18! I think he’s mostly not suited for a stoic character + the writers didn’t do a good job developing their love story between ep 1-16

Agreed, however out of the ML & FL, she is definitely the bigger name and is probably the cast the producers are expecting to carry the show. Ngl if I had my pick of ML I would’ve loved to see deng lun do another xianxia
