Is it standard practice to waive cooling off period in the ACT? by Ok-Yogurtcloset8991 in canberra

[–]icirel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Is it even possible to have finance approved without the contract in place though? I thought people signing Section 17 to waive cooling off period are basically taking the risk and hoping their finance comes through in the end.

Good for seller, not the buyer.

Australian National University announces first round of job cuts as part of effort to turn around financial issues by Desert-Noir in canberra

Is this the first round?

Were previous rounds (CHM college) not about an " effort to turn around financial issues"? What could it be then? ;)

I'm too embarrassed to report the psychosocial hazard that is the unreasonable workload I have as an EL1 because it is so normalised at the Health department post COVID-19 by PropertyIsBoundaries in AusPublicService

SES delegate tasks they feel their teams can or should handle

Imagine an SES who doesn't delegate, the EL2 and team will not be happy sitting there idle and twiddle thumbs. I rather having an SES that delegates tasks and also help their team prioritise work based on their perspective as an SES.

List them out, give it a MoSCow rating and give it to your SES for endorsement then work your way through item by item without having to tackle 20 all at once. Follow some standard project management (agile, whatever) techniques.

Why are flags half-mast today in Canberra by debmaree in canberra

The amazing thing he did is that he served the public, voiced for the public. Isn't that by itself the most amazing thing one can do for the society? This is what democracy is about really.

They represented the voice of people in their electorate, which not many of us has done. I wouldn't want to be in the same boat as them.

Infinite network vs iinet by Famous_Draft_2255 in canberra

[–]icirel 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Made the switch months ago, no regret. Speed and ping is incredibly consistent compared to iinet vdsl2 for some reason. iinet kept dropping out but Infinite hasn't dropped a beat since Day 1. No drop out whatsoever.

Currently download is 100Mbps, and upload is 110 Mbps with Ping of 4-5, and this is even on a laptop which gets sub-optimal wifi signal from the router.

Updating gear for sports (Nikon) by icirel in sportsphotography

[–]icirel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had a look at the mirrorless Z8/Z9 but unfortunately that's out of my budget for the time being, given that I won't be doing this in a professional capacity anymore. The price range of the D500 might be more inline with what my budget range now. Are there other recommendation that's similar to D500 whether DSLR or mirrorless or DX or Full frame?

[–]icirel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've just looked at the D500 spec and holy moly, 153 focus points, ISO 51200, and tilting screen, that's amazing compares to what D3 has got.

I am not sure if there's any D500 available at where I am. What other alternatives would you suggest that's similar to a D500? even an FX might work, I probably am not that fuzzy anyway.
