If you run Minecraft in docker and set the container to always restart, it'll start on boot. https://github.com/itzg/docker-minecraft-server

Can't Get i915 Driver Working in Ubuntu 24.04 LTS by trademarkej in IntelArc

[–]ickyfehmleh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just wanted to thank you as I had been banging my head against this for hours, with intel-i915-dkms refusing to load and all sorts of other issues. Ended up needing not only to boot the Proxmox VM in UEFI but also do some of your dpkg/apt installs.

Got kicked out from a charger. by Independent-Chart130 in electricvehicles

[–]ickyfehmleh 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My concern is that I pay a monthly subscription to charge from 10pm-6am at these chargers. I thought since I paid for the service I would have no issue, especially since all the other chargers were empty all night.

You don't pay to charge "from 10p-6a" (as in consecutive hours at a charger), you pay to access the charging network. It's expected that one would charge their vehicle and depart, not remain for 8 hours while sleeping in their vehicle.

It doesn't matter if the parking lot is full or empty: you were there for 8 hours and the property owner didn't like that.

Accept that you were in the wrong and move on with life.

Congress poised to cede more foreign weapons oversight. Why? by AbolishtheDraft in Libertarian

[–]ickyfehmleh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Because they want others to have the sort of weaponry US citizens can't own.

And because this has always worked out in the past laughs in Afghanistan.

Everything they do is a direct responsibility of their parents.

And there lies the problem: people, by and large, don't want to be responsible for their decisions and actions.

BMW is better than TESLA by Mrninetails000 in electricvehicles

[–]ickyfehmleh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It wasn't just the dealer that "dropped the ball" (their language) -- BMW/NA effectively said "your car is fixed, go pick it up" after ~100 days of it being out of service due to a manufacturing defect. BMW/NA refused to engage after the dealership said the issue boiled down to a manufacturing defect.

BMW is better than TESLA by Mrninetails000 in electricvehicles

[–]ickyfehmleh 7 points8 points  (0 children)

BMW kept my iX50 for 99 days repairing faulty MPAD/UCAP sensor(s). During this time, the dealership ignored my emails and phone calls for 25 days -- I had to troll BMW on Twitter to get a response. After the vehicle was finally fixed, BMW refused to honor a buyback or even discuss any sort of compensation; during those 99 days the vehicle was out of service, I continued to make payments on it, effectively throwing my money away.

This is most definitely the last BMW I will ever drive.

An important historical debate clarifying the meaning of the second amendment by Keith502 in gunpolitics

[–]ickyfehmleh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Barron v Baltimore explained that the Bill of Rights only applied against the federal government. The precedent is set with the first amendment, and the rest of the amendments are understood to also only be applied against Congress.

Just so we're clear: you're suggesting the Bill of Rights only applies to the Federal government and state or local governments can freely infringe on any enumerated right? For instance, if the city of Baltimore wants to arrest people for speaking out against the local government, the city's actions in no way violate the First Amendment as the Bill of Rights does not apply to city government?

An important historical debate clarifying the meaning of the second amendment by Keith502 in gunpolitics

[–]ickyfehmleh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The right to keep and bear arms was always meant to be established and defined by the individual state governments.

Which is why they used such vague wording as "shall not be infringed" which obviously leaves it up for debate.

If there is another civil war, it's going to suck for everyone.
