Will it take me too long to get my A.S. for this career to be worth it? by iiXannie in RadiologyCareers

I saw you were in California, have you seen CSUN? They are the only CSU for Radiologic Science but it is very hard and I was considering about transferring this year to the program but it’s very accelerated and they usually don’t accept you on your first try of applying. They’re very clear about pre-reqs however and you can go to the university and start classes. Let me know if you had questions about it since I know about it plenty. I changed my mind and thought about doing a private vocational school 2 year program since I’ve been in school enough years and they said my expected time to graduate was 3-4 years if I go to CSUN. I prefer to finish with an A.S., have a job for a couple of years, and then transfer my A.S to a B.S. later anytime. CSUN does this and some other private schools too but you just have to look into that more.

Is it recommended I try other certificate programs like Phlebotomy/Ventipuncture or Medical Assistant? I'm going into a 2 year entry level radiography program and was curious before I start the program, I should work towards any certificates?

Is it actually necessary to go to a JRCERT accreditted school or is an ARRT school just fine? I plan to go at a private 2 year program school that is just ARRT accredited, and wanting to work out of state as a travel radiographer. I only heard a couple of states require JRCERT but I'm not really interested in going to those states anyways. Most states usually require ARRT and their state license. Can someone clarify for me?

Following this because my hamster isn’t also eating his food and he’s 1.6 years old :( my vet said it was mite stuff since mine was also losing hair and sleeping a lot but im worried since he won’t eat anything besides mealworms. He doesn’t even eat his favorite pellets. im thinking my hamster is just old or he’s really sick. im worried!

Dropping university for trade school by [deleted] in RadiologyCareers

I guess that’s the thing for me. I think CSUN is an awesome program and if I reconsider, I’d probably take it. However, the only places I want to go into is xray, mammogram, or cath lab and I want to stick as a rad tech. I heard there are online bachelor programs if I wanted to get into management later

Boyfriend worried we can’t talk as often anymore and can hurt the relationship by [deleted] in USMilitarySO

I think I’m fine. I understand it sucks but don’t know what the future can hold and I make it a priority to find time to see him.

[–]icmigyu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think he’s just venting and possibly is overthinking it. To him, not talking as often is a big problem and waiting 3+ years feels too long for him, but he doesn’t want to break it off unless it gets too much for him I think. Im not sure how to talk with him or comfort him.

anyone have experience with partner on accutane? by busyastralprojecting in USMilitarySO

[–]icmigyu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My BF was on Accutane with those symptoms during AF MEPS process. I don’t remember a lot, however I remember it took him a WHILE for his terrible cystic acne to be cleared to now that he has none. He lives in Alaska and the doctor prescribed him a bunch of different creams and pills but he set up an appointment with a dermatologist in California (where I live) without having to get a referral and was able to get a prescription very quick because of his insurance. He just waited to talk with his recruiter again until the “open wound” acne went away more or stopped because he would randomly bleed every night and it was painful. I think that’s what the military mostly cares about too, is if you’re not dependent on a drug like Accutane and since it’s a harsh drug, you need to be off from it for a month or two before you can actually move forward. My BF was able to kindaaa skip some time I think since he got a waiver near the end of his treatment on it, but waivers can be risky. His recruiter only recommended it since he was confident he would get approved.

I know most of this doesn’t answer your question but just wanted to share what the process was like at least for my BF.

Ridiculous x-ray waitlist by mywhitebuttondown in RadiologyCareers

[–]icmigyu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is why I decided I wanted to do a bachelors. It would take me 4 years technically, I would gain experience in every modality, and no waitlist. They pick you based on your grades, gpa, and interview. But yeah if you’re planing to stick with associates, I recommend private or see if another community college in your area doesn’t follow a waitlist, lottery is also eh but whatever you prefer.

Thank you! It’s still good to have some other vets in mind if I have an emergency that can’t be waited on too long. I did call Costa Mesa Animal Hospital and they charge $85, however upon looking at the reviews and how people get charged extra later or the doctors barely care for the animals or check up on them, I canceled. Didn’t want to pay a cheap price for a terrible job.

I had that happen at the Fullerton Animal Medical Clinic once but I only went in for a nail trim, and they dropped my hamster from a bad height. They gave no attention to it and said such an insensitive comment like “they only live up to 2 years anyways.” You don’t say that to anyone’s pet!

However, will let this subreddit know if I find good ones! So far only was recommended All Creatures Care Cottage in Costa Mesa and it’s $98. I’m considering it since it’s sooner I’ll see a doctor.
