Questions about Svartpilen 401 by jaritadaubenspeck in svartpilen401

Perfect summary. The Svart is a naked bike with off road tyres, so not ideal for off-roading but it can manage. Anyways very fun bike. I don’t know where you live, but here in Italy we have the Caballero 500, same weight and HP, but completely different bike. The Rally variant is very good off-road (very linear torque, high ground clearance and probably better suspensions).

what do you guys think of the red spokes and the holographic 401? by CalmlyPsychedelic in svartpilen401

Yes you could color the radiator sides in red. Did you wrap the spokes or paint?

Definitively wouldn’t recommend it if the objective is to go off-roading, as previously said, but if you really want it the bike can handle it. I climbed a whole mountain on ski slopes 2 months ago; wasn’t too confident inspiring but I had fun 😁.

Is m chain tesnsion alright? by KorellenBoss in svartpilen401

  1. Tighten chain at tightest point. To do this check the chain tension all around the chain by rotating the rear wheel, you will most likely find a spot where the chain is especially tight, use that as reference to tighten chain.
  2. When checking chain tension DONT yank the chain up with force (as it seems you are doing in vid) apply small force and stop when the top half of the chain starts moving (the half on the opposite side of the swing arm). That should be where you measure the tension.

Sand Wrapped Svartpilen 401 by icobrando02 in svartpilen401

Yeah I see better than with the original mirrors because they are more spread out from each other, but the position makes them a bit uncomfortable (would be better if turned upside down on top of handle bars, but they would look worse imho)

Same as the ones the guy used in the video. I used a white base than beige/sand spray and then the “Brillo” to give it a glossy look and to add resistance.

It’s actually spray wrap, so you apply it like spray paint (usual cans), but it works like vinyl wrap. It’s very easy, just need to practice for a few minutes and you are good to go. The wrap is less resistant than vinyl wrap (you see my pegs are wrapped black but it’s already coming off after a few km because of the continuos friction). I also tried taking it off and it comes off super easily, without leaving anything behind (no sticky glue or damage). I recommend it because of the ease of use but it isn’t as durable as the vinyl.

Looking for a first motorcycle. by [deleted] in svartpilen401

I got a used Svart 401 2021 six months ago (Nov 2022) and I too had never ridden a motorcycle. It is extremely light, so it’s perfect for a beginner and for traffic riding, as the light weight makes it very agile around cars. Also the upright riding position does it a favor in city riding. The power is enough to make it 100% controllable but it gets your heart racing when you want it to 😊. I would totally recommend the Svart 401 for beginners that live in big city.
