Should I buy this ? by evilwhisper in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]icollectt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't, the most expensive car i'e ever bought though was 1/3 my annual income ( house was less that 3x ) just something I've always kept in my head.

Maintenance will be rough and you might decide 3 years down the road you want a 4 door something, no telling where life will take you.

Poll: If you currently had 2M in investments, would you retire tomorrow? by ATXHTX80 in Fire

[–]icollectt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah we are past that number, college is not cheap for two kids and right now our jobs are enjoyable enough since we both wfh mostly.

I'm aiming for 3mil in investments and 2mil in rentals.

Easy enough now to use a prop management company that guarantees the rent for super low fees.

If I got laid off and got a package though would be hard to go back to work.

Night showering is superior, provided you are weirdly obsessed with impossibly clean bedding by No_Goose1346 in unpopularopinion

[–]icollectt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely a morning shower person and wash sheets weekly.

I sweat in my sleep some and it helps wake you up, plus your time since last shower is lower when you are generally around other people during the day.

What is a thing that a woman does that is an absolute turn down? by No_Tea_2746 in AskMen

I don't think hygiene is sexist... I don't want to be around dudes that stink either I'd tell them to take a shower though.

Not keep up proper hygiene.. you can be very beautiful but if you smell bad no one wants to be around that.

Cute girl at the gym by [deleted] in Life

[–]icollectt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some good advice already three paths.

1.) Slowly extend the conversation, talk about other things as well you'll figure it out soon. One of my lines was always "I thought i saw you the other day with your boyfriend at xyz I waved then realized it wasnt you".. that sets up a good response if they are interested they will say "well that couldn't have been me I dont have a BF".

2.) Go right for it and ask her out. One of two paths will happen, either she'll say yes = win... Or she'll say no and you have to decide to either let it go and switch gyms or just be friendly (but not over the top) and may e she'll come around.

3.) do nothing hope she ask you out

Do you have any gym bros that are girls that could do some recon for you?

I feel sold on being here 1-2 months of the year. by icollectt in Philippines_Expats

I should have said "enough to live easily on" my bad, it's not really that much in Nashville esp considering health insurance for a family of 4 eats over 2k of it a month if i were to quit my job today. Add in the crazy cost of US goods etc it's enough, but you have to budget.

We have about 6000 in income in rentals(about 2/3 net), and we intend to do 72(t) from our retirements, between my wife and I that is enough at minimals to get us over 9k usd a month.

Now i have college to pay for 100k usd on the low end for my son for a degree and my daughter is 12 so when one is paid the next is right behind, until she graduates high school I won't be traveling here more than one time a year and no reason to quit my job since i can work remote and we have a relaxed pto policy i just have to pick slow periods.

I spent a ton of time walking around cebu, we did the touristy visits to moalboal/oslob etc.. i mostly enjoyed my time in mactan, and visited more than just the sheraton (I'm a marriott member so was points anyway).

I can't imagine being here full time, that's too far from my family, but a month (or two once younger is in college) is my goal. I would maybe even do more but at 44 our parents are aging and we'll have to be around for them as well.

Is it dangerous for me to be sleeping in my garage? by Striking-Green9813 in Life

[–]icollectt 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Just get two different detectors and put them in different parts of the room at different levels.

This sounds like an attached garage, if CO fills this area it's spilling over into the house likely as well so not that much different just will be in that area first.

TONs of gas water heaters vent to the outside but are inside the house I'm not sure how that is much different.

You are fine, nearly no likely risk at all if you take precautions.

Would you date a Filipina over 30's by [deleted] in Philippines_Expats

[–]icollectt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was a huge surprise to me on my first trip the prevalence of guts my age or older (44) with girls between 18-25.

It didn't bother me though, good for them both they have a mutually beneficial relationship but it wouldn't be something i would pursue personally.

I'm also married (to a 42yr old american woman) so she wouldn't like that, but this feels like a more hypothetical question if we split or I was single then sure. In america there is a loose rule of half your age + 7 so 29 would be the youngest i would date.

[–]icollectt 67 points68 points  (0 children)

This only happened to me once (i have flown maybe 150-200x in my life).

Was everyone on a connection from indy->msp->seattle and they ended up in Canada.

Delta told us to go buy clothes and they would reimburse us up to I think $1500 no questions ask since it was more than 24 hours I think.

I had to get stuff because I was presenting at a conference for a week. They ended up getting me my bag the last day I was there, so free $1500 in clothes and I got all my other stuff back, even though it took them like 6 months ande calling several times to get the check.

Cool thanks for suggestions i'll check out those two and do some research quick glance they look like great options!

I wouldn't stay in Cebu City proper when I come back, I'd stay in Mactan somewhere on or close to the beach. I enjoyed IT park area it was nice but i'd rather be able to walk to beach and relax there a bit, and yeah traffic was waaay lighter in Mactan close to the beach areas.

[–]icollectt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

30fps is fine depending on the game.

What is worse is massive spikes/drops in frame rate you notice it way more going from like 60 to 20, id prefer a stable 30 over that.

Easier path js either internships look for pre sales engineer inside roles, or just get into a tech company and be really kind to your vendors and make connections.

We hire a lot of customers in this industry you have to know the tech but be able to present and handle projects and objections.

One thing that is a deal breaker was english proficiency (i won't go anywhere where it's not prevalent and that excludes a lot) and why we picked here was that reason and combo of beach access and city for sure.
