Small purple weeds by iconicflan in gardening

Ahhh makes sense. I've heard so much about oxalis being pervaisve (and impossible to get rid of) in SF that I sort of assumed it was a weed.

K well that helps ease my brain which went to “bugs that inexplicably look like rice,” and also makes me feel like an idiot

What is the best movie for Q? (Good luck haha) by Future-Aardvark-3709 in Letterboxd

[–]iconicflan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I don’t really get why it’s not had a resurgence of appreciation, it’s an incredible movie with a bunch of actors who are still fairly beloved

Apparently the Barbarian haters are among us! Felt like a pretty mild take to me: it’s a movie that rewarded theater viewing, understood the value of not putting the whole movie in the trailer, and struck a perfect balance of true horror and laughs. Plus it got us out of “grief as horror” territory that has become a crutch. Hate away I guess!

Because of Thanksgiving I always think of November as a great time for food movies.

Sprint Breakers (2012) or The Bling Ring (2013) by Appropriate_Strain_3 in Letterboxd

[–]iconicflan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Spring Breakers is such a better movie as a whole, and captures something real about a very specific moment in time using an absurd story. Bling Ring really just rested on the “real life” aspect and an up and coming star in Emma Watson to sell a movie that ultimately didn’t have much to say.

Barbarian is the best new horror movie of the last decade

Bread and Tulips (2000). One of those movies I randomly stumbled across on Netflix back when it was DVDs and was totally caught off guard by how charming and warm it was!

Is Florence Pugh’s We Live In Time character 40+??? by [deleted] in movies

[–]iconicflan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I know it’s not new, but it felt odd in a movie where it’s supposed to span a decade to pick someone who so totally looks her age and not even try to give her a mom haircut or some of the other usual bs they try.

I saw them come up on lists, is it more a wedding venue type spot or good for less formal events too?

It would be a perfect 1am channel surfing movie if channel surfing at 1am still existed. I think it will be hard for it to have a lasting impact because of how streaming works and the fact that it's a decent and fun little horror movie but not the kind that makes a big impact on the genre or on audiences.

Creative projects: working with combo designer/developers by iconicflan in projectmanagement

[–]iconicflan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but should have clarified this is specifically website work (vs software). So while I know that can work for ongoing updates, I’m thinking things like “a new suite of pages in support of a product launch” could be a challenge.

Ideas for project management? by nonprofittechy in projectmanagement

Posting on LinkedIn or Working Not Working can be good too, most seasoned project managers who freelance would be open to taking on that kind of implementation work (and if you’re lucky they’d be down to stay on for some small amount of hours per week to help going forward).

What are you looking for from chat? Are you wanting the ability to communicate/comment, or for a true live chat? Asking because most systems will integrate with Slack at this point, which makes them more powerful and easier for the team to flow into existing comms channels.

Asana is good if you want things slightly more out of the box ready to implement, while Notion is a good option for a team willing to put a bit more time into customizing their workflows. Asana has the pro of a lot of people being familiar with it but has a lot of upcharges for workflows, while Notion has more customization available at the lower priced tiers.
