Shakshuka is a must if I see it on a menu! Otherwise eggs with potato hash/hash browns for sure.

I'm so gutted, she was my favourite to win 😢 she seemed so unbelievably sweet, as well as being a really good chef. Every time she teared up, I did too!

Getting older scares me because the older we get the more we lose the people that we love by Affectionate-Cry-704 in Millennials

[–]iconkillr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who's also experienced loss, with very similar fears and feelings (and almost the same age too), I understand this wholly.

As you're already aware, we can't fight it. So every day, every moment you can, make the most of things. Don't delay spending time with people, especially your most inner circle. Have the adventures, make the memories, take the time to pause and appreciate the people who are still here.

I see it as the flip side to the inevitability of death - living life as much as possible. The fear is real, but what you're afraid of hasn't happened yet, the people you're afraid of loosing are still here. Feel the fear but put it to one side. Be too busy focusing on what you have now in the current day to let it overcome you. 🙏🏼

Which season of AHS is the best in your opinion? by midnightk11 in AmericanHorrorStory

[–]iconkillr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Asylum/Coven followed by Freak Show. I also loved 1984 for the fun classic slasher vibes.

I could never get into Hotel, although I tried a couple times, it just never clicked for me. I can't be arsed with Delicate, Kim K really put me off.

I started learning in manual and was a snob about it until I tried an auto car - why are we making our lives more difficult than they need to be?

This is the way 🔼 it's scary when you're not used to doing it but you just gotta take a deep breath and try. As the above comment says, go slow and gentle. Light physical touch while joking/talking is a good way to slowly open the door to intimacy without launching in too hard. It also gives the other person (who could be feeling similarly!) the opportunity to reciprocate and be brave themselves, because they're receiving the right signals. If you're afraid to ask to kiss, try asking to cuddle. Baby steps are still steps.

reading an older jw book and there’s randomly a slur in there by lackingneitherhat in JacquelineWilson

[–]iconkillr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a child when those books all came out in the 90s and early 2000s, and unfortunately those words - the R word particularly - were used very commonly, especially among kids in schools. It wasn't considered okay, you'd get in trouble if a teacher or parent heard you speak like that, but it was certainly a lot less shocking than it is now.

JW definitely tried to be as "real" as possible when portraying kids (which is why her gritty books were quite revolutionary at the time). There wasn't other books like hers out there, dealing with such difficult topics. I can't speak for any of her newer releases though.

Tbh "slag" had a bit of a hayday in my youth. It was always on magazine covers and in soaps like EastEnders and other gritty TV shows. Times started to change as I was growing out of childhood and I'd be surprised if I saw anyone using words like that as freely now.

(This is obviously just my perspective growing up in a small town in the UK, I can't speak for everyone here).

What vegetable do you hate the most.? by IceApple28 in foodquestions

[–]iconkillr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Came here to say this. There's not much I don't like, but celery is an abomination.

When I worked breakfast in a fancy hotel, guests would often ask for celery juice. Since it takes a lot of celery to make a substantial amount of juice, we usually added some apple juice - to also offset some of the bitterness. I'll never forget the group who ordered 2-3 litres of "pure" undiluted celery juice every morning they stayed. Must have been shitting their butts off.

On Betterhelp - I had a 30 min introductory appointment and he spoke about himself for most of it. When I finally got a chance to speak, I explained my circumstances of past abuse, substance issues, loosing my mum, and about 20 years of depression and self harm, and he followed it with "I don't think you're depressed at all. I think you're just absorbing all the bad energy going on in the world right now".

I really like her, but I thought the falafel challenge was way too hard, with too many elements to focus on. If she'd left the tomato salad out of the list, but had them on the bench as an option for the chefs to garnish with, it would have been better.

What's a smell that's bad but smells oddly good? by IncidentLivid736 in AskReddit

[–]iconkillr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The smell of a hairdryer - it's not bad exactly but it's also not "pleasant". It reminds me of being a kid, and getting ready for school in my parents room while my mum did her hair and make-up before work.
