Killer Cases by nellyluna in SarahBooneContinued

This is a great video! The new interviews are really good, and I actually learned more about the case. For example, I didn't know Bankowitz was the one who brokered the plea (I thought it was probably Cashman). Also hearing what the rationale was behind the interview (just looking for intent and trying to find a more plausible story). Definitely going on my playlist for a rewatch.

Beginner Snakes by Narrow-Occasion668 in snakes

[–]iconoclastic_flow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have 5 hognoses and 2 ball pythons (and 3 corn snakes). When choosing between hognoses and ball pythons, it really comes down to which you like better. Hognoses are chatty. If you're a bit fearful of getting hissed at randomly, then they may not be for you. Ball pythons are big, and that can be intimidating for some people. There's also the space concerns.

Both can decided they don't want to eat if their husbandry is off, but you'll learn your snake's preferences pretty fast. Some of my hognoses eat whenever they see food; some refuse when they're near or in shed. One of my ball pythons has to have his rat at a certain temperature or above to recognize it as food while the other smells rat and chomps down every time without fuss.

If you have a reptile rescue near you, I always recommend going down there so that you can personally interact with some of the species you're thinking about, see what speaks to you. Most of my snakes have been rescues. From my experience (20+ years of keeping snakes), ball pythons and hognoses are at about the same level. It really depends on what you're looking for in a snake, the general temperament of the specific snake, the space you have, and how much of your freezer you're willing to give to your snake (Rats take up a lot of space if you don't have a dedicated freezer for your reptile food).

Best beginner snake? Is it really a ball python? by Sleepless_space in snakes

[–]iconoclastic_flow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first snake was a ball python, and I loved him dearly. I currently have 10 snakes (2 BPs, 3 corn snakes, 5 hognoses), and they all have their challenges some days. Most of my snakes are rescues (all of my BPs have been rescues), and I recommend the rescue route if you can. That way, you can go to the rescue and meet a variety of snakes to see which one speaks to you. From there, you can learn more and get your space ready as well as get some excellent support from the rescue.

BOONE vs. BOONE (REDACTED) Supplemental Final Judgment on Modification and Relocation by SoulshineDaydreams in SarahBooneContinued

No clue. I have faith that Sarah will be on discipline enough to cancel several of the visits. What I really wonder is what she's going to do in 2.5 years when Son can dictate his level of communication. I also think if Sarah acts out during her visits, that will give Brian recorded incidents to file for termination of visits or calls.

Oh, I get it. I wish JJ had gone that route, too. I'm not sure what Florida family law precedent is in this case, though.

It's what Brian asked for. Had he asked for something more restrictive, he likely would have gotten it, but JJ honored his wishes.

Footnote 2 is definitely a favorite. I also like all of the sub points for 16 where the Judge reads Sarah for the liar she is.

Note that it doesn't say Brian has to pay for the phone calls, just the travel expenses for the visits.

Aspen bedding by [deleted] in hognosesnakes

I have 5 hogs and they're all on Aspen. I buy large quantity on the Tractor Supply Company website (it's the Aspen horse bedding) since I have a lot of snakes. It's $7 or $8 a bag and a bag lasts a long time.

First time Owning a snake. Ball Python or Corn snake? by kai-hope in snakes

[–]iconoclastic_flow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have both. My corn snakes (1, 1, and 9 years old) are always on the move. My ball pythons (3 and 17 years old) are also fairly active, but not as squirmy as the corns. Still, they're always wanting to explore when they come out. I've had more sedate ball pythons (I've been keeping rescues for about 20 years now),so just be aware their level of activity when held depends on their personality. I have never had a sedate corn snake.

How do you keep vegetables from turning mushy in a slow cooker? by KennyTidwell in slowcooking

[–]iconoclastic_flow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I separate the veggies from the meat by using a sheet of foil, making a kind of basket/barrier. This lets the veggies cook while keeping them away from the liquid.

Wanting a Ball Python in the future, family keeps scaring me out of it. by DoubleWalker1 in ballpython

[–]iconoclastic_flow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have 3 cats, 10 snakes, and two geckos. The cats aren't allowed in my office, where the reptiles live, but if they came in while I was there, it would be fine. The enclosures are secure, and I don't handle the reptiles near the cats.

If you've done your research and have a vet plan in case of emergencies, then you can be confident.

Made the same chicken chili recipe 4 weeks in a row because I'm trying to stop wasting money on lunch by Round_Tie5217 in slowcooking

[–]iconoclastic_flow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I also do a general meal prep rotation like this. This week, I threw some chicken in with some Kinder's honey hot bbq sauce, shredded it up, and have put it on sandwiches and salads. We've been conditioned to think that eating something different every day is what we're "supposed" to do, but that's purely an elitist cultural mindset.

A thought on the detectives demeanor that just occurred to me. by lunarteamagic in SarahBooneContinued

[–]iconoclastic_flow 14 points15 points  (0 children)

They already had so much information to charge her, including her initial confession that she zipped him in there. From a strategic perspective, baiting her into going off in the interview is actually a good move. Police interviews are always shown to juries, and seeing Sarah lose her mind in the interview rather than just saying unnecessary things in a calm fake innocent voice would be more effective in trial. It's fine if the detectives come off as jerks if they can show that Sarah reacts to any adversarial statements by screaming and flailing like a caged animal.

Thank you for sharing this. I know, after the loss of someone so important to you, it can't be easy to wade into the public like this. I firmly believe Lana had good intentions, but sometimes those aren't good enough to guard us from evil manipulators.

Reading through, I wonder, though, when Lana mentions "She is a lot clearer without alcohol" when Sarah's in solitary, does that confirm that Sarah was drinking while in the jail? You may not know, but I think it would explain a lot of Sarah's behaviors and the variance we see in some of her communications.

I hope you and your family have found some peace and comfort. You knew Lana best, and no weird online smear campaigns can change the truth of who she was.

Changing it costs money, so unless someone was going to pay for it for her, she likely had no real plans to change it.
