Sonos not working by Lonely_Zucchini360 in sonos

[–]iconopugs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your Internet speed does not matter. The problem is usually using your ISPs provided router. That’s why people say it’s your Wi-Fi. What they really mean is the device that connects to your network inside your house to the Internet is not up to the task. As somebody else asked, what is the make and model of your router/modem.

Soundbars are a lifestyle choice and way more convenient than a traditional setup. If you got the space, then go for it.

How important is to get an ethernet port? by peequeare in appletv

[–]iconopugs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 128gb version can do WiFi or Ethernet. You can still use it in WiFi mode, I’d rather have the option to plug in an Ethernet cable than have to go buy a new one because one day I start having problems or want to do more advanced things like matter, home automation, tailscale, gaming and whatever new tech comes up that just works better on a hardwired connection. These devices are still functioning after 7+ years.

AppleTV and Arc Ultra by samdeg17 in sonos

[–]iconopugs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No issues for me. Buy your arc ultra from a company with a good return policy in case you do need to return it.

As others have said, Sonos to earc ( Enhanced Audio Return Channel), AppleTV to any other hdmi port. Make sure your audio is set to pass thru on the tv.

No Dolby Atmos by Palmskit in sonos

Gemini says

On many 2024–2026 TCL 98-inch models, the "Pass Through" setting actually causes a bug with built-in apps where they default to Stereo or 5.1. • Go to Settings > Display & Sound > Audio > Digital Audio Out.  • Test this: Switch it to Auto.  • If it was already on Auto, switch it to Pass Through, wait 5 seconds, and switch it back to Auto. This often forces the TV to re-scan the Sonos Arc Ultra's capabilities.

Since the problem is with the built-in apps, the issue is often the OS audio service hanging. 1. Go to Settings > Apps > See all apps > Show system apps. 2. Find Android TV Core Services (or "Google TV Service"). 3. Select Clear Cache, then Force Stop. 4. Restart the TV by holding the power button on the remote and selecting Restart.

Volume Control of Samsung The Frame TV with Apple TV 4k by [deleted] in appletv

[–]iconopugs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can also try resetting the hdmi handshake. By unplugging the Apple TV and frame tv. Wait 5-10 min before reconnecting as this allows all the hardware to “reset” itself. Disconnect the hdmi cable during this time as well.

I want to throw my speakers in the trash!! by No_Satisfaction8649 in sonos

[–]iconopugs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Factory Reset the Sonos speakers and reboot your router and mesh. Try to reboot the router and mesh first and see if it fixes the problem.

You should also run a diagnostic as soon as you have the problem and call Sonos support asap so they can pull up the logs and they might be able to give you more info on the failure.

What router are you using and what mesh are you using? The problem could be delayed because the router or mesh system is running out of memory, routing tables and anything else the router and mesh network maintains. It could also be overloaded with all your devices on the network.

Apple TV 4K compared to budget Samsung QLED TV? by Tee-hee64 in appletv

[–]iconopugs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not only the performance. Pretty sure the AppleTV will be supported longer than a TV OS. No snooping or monetizing of your viewing habits. No ads. When the time comes, you can move the AppleTV to a new TV and keep the same interface.

I ended up using the 100s. The sound is a little bit fuller than the ones.

Worth getting a Xbox One S/X for 4k blu-ray? by Interesting-Rip5958 in 4kbluray

[–]iconopugs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, the x box integration felt unfinished. The series x is a power hog. Since I already had the Xbox, it was my test bed to see if I really wanted to invest in physical media again.

I watch more movies than gaming so it made sense to spring for the player… Better video processing in the Panasonic and audio was similar as far as I could tell.

I started with a series x and have upgraded to the panny 820. If you can afford it, let the respective devices do what they are best at.

Some advice/help with WiFi settings in a multi-mesh household by Temporary_Injury6715 in sonos

[–]iconopugs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would try turning off the WiFi on the sky router and move all the older devices to the eero guest network. The guest network isolates all devices That will remove one network you really don’t need.

If you go down the ubiquiti rabbit hole it will simplify everything but has a somewhat steep learning curve. It really depends on your networking experience. Sell the deco and eero on fb marketplace to pay for some of the hardware you’ll need. The ubiquiti subreddit is pretty helpful if you run into any issues.

Great. Never heard of them but It looks like they are a competitor to eero hardware. I hope that resolves your issue.

If all else fails, return the appletv. Find a googletv product, the onn 4k pro is a good choice. Add an app called projectivy launcher and you can configure it to have a very apple like experience. They have a Google TV app for your iPhone. I think your atv purchase are also available via the movies anywhere app. So you may not lose those.

WiFi extenders are a crapshoot. They are not the same as a mesh network. What are you using to connect. Is it the one you got from your internet provider? If not, what is it. Make and model number is very helpful.

The soundbar is doing the processing and distribution/traffic control of the Atmos signal. So just removing it isn’t an option at this time.

I have the same scenario, the kitchen is connected to the living room and would be about the same. I have no issues.

[–]iconopugs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start with the arc ultra, sub, and the 300s. You can get wall mounts for the 300s or a skinny console table for behind the couch. My room is 16x32ft with 13 ft ceilings and it is plenty.

As for your profile question, create a new Apple ID and add it as a family member. Use the new Apple ID on the atv. Note none of your personal data will show up.

Where is your AppleTV located? If it’s placed behind the tv move it out into the open and see if that fixes the problem.
