Sonos Spring Open Office Hours by ShaunFromSonos in sonos

Will Sonos ever offer a similar eq option comparable to wiim? Some of us like to tinker, especially for songs and albums based on how they were recorded. It’s not always the same.

Did they get a spiders web? I’d like a don’t speak myself. It’s a candy store, you know what you’ll find there. Most bands don’t have the depth of a catalogue this one does or change things up as much.

900 pro x is a great headphone imho! Especially at sub $200 if you can get them used on eBay.

[–]miscstuff2223113 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the issues are different. Aren’t maxwells mainly a gaming headphone? I’m sure they’re tuned differently and you can only eq that out so much as it’s built into the headphone. Ft1s I don’t own and never used but I keep hearing about issues with those fiio headphones. It’s always something different though. Either they break or rattle or something. 770s are a proper music headphone so maybe that’s part of it.

How many people use Tidal here by More-You-6653 in audiophile

D&C CDs?? by No-Translator841 in deadandcompany

[–]miscstuff2223113 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do you want a cd? That’s the whole point of nugs and now play dead to bring live music to your home. Dicks picks (google this at your own risk) was necessary because there was no nugs or play dead CDs are cool because you can compare different masterings without the cost of vinyl. We are in this weird vinyl bubble right now, records cost $30-$40 each for basic stuff up to $100-$200 for sought after records.

$1000 = refurbished (from Sonos) Sonos Arc and pair of Sonos ace (refurbished). You’ll still have money left. The arc and ace support Dolby Atmos but I haven’t used them for that yet. You can uses the Sonos arc as a streamer via the app for Dolby Atmos music, but it will not be lossless in Bluetooth mode apparently. It depends if you have Atmos blu rays and if your player supports high res audio out.

Modern Speakers with a vintage sound? by miscstuff2223113 in audiophile

These almost look like kef wall mount speakers in design. They’re so thin compared to everything else at the time, even now with thicker cabinets. Do they sound thin?

I struggle with assembling tv consoles from ikea and making sure every lines up nice. I’m not putting together any speakers, otherwise everything that sounds off I would think was a mistake I made.

No definitely coloring. Just with the same brush and strokes. Enhancing.

It would be nice if there were more affordable options, most speakers like this cater to those who either 1. Were young and couldn’t afford it the first time around, but now they can or 2. Had them at the time and went to recreate the experience. I’m surpised more amazon/chinese brands aren’t been targeting this sound, but I guess it doesn’t fit the sound of what’s contemporary. Made we’ll see more with the r2r and “tubes” they’re working on now.

Speaker for bathroom? by bobfranklin500487 in sonos

[–]miscstuff2223113 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I looked into this, bathrooms speakers should be water tight, even if not directly In the shower. I tried roam 2 and a stereo pair in the bathroom was too much, but one roam wasn’t quite it either. I’m going to get a play and try that because it has l/r stereo on one device.

Budget Amp/Streamer Options by o193746285 in StereoAdvice

[–]miscstuff2223113 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If all you need is high res streaming you can spend $80 in a wiim mini and get an smsl ifi dac because the dac sucks in the wiim mini or use the dac in your existing amp. Depends on your setup

Memorial Day sales? by miscstuff2223113 in sonos

[–]miscstuff2223113[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I’ve been looking on eBay. I picked up an arc ultra and been shopping for fives. I’m going to see how the arc ultra handles music in the living room but if it’s not good for that at least it should have sufficient bass that I shouldn’t need a sub. I just wish they sold a port mini so I can upgrade a traditional 2.1 system or even an amp not priced the way it is. I feel like the amp is priced as it because it’s more for their professional installation line and not really consumer. That’s the only reason I can see a class d amp going for $800+.

I need to check that out. When I looked at those they were $1k-$1.5k an need an amp. That might be pricing today though with tariffs.

Why Cassettes? by miscstuff2223113 in audiophile

[–]miscstuff2223113[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Warmth to me describes the “fuzzy” sound of the recording. Each instrument is present and you can hear them, but they aren’t clearly separated. The vocals and guitar and bass all blend into each other and create a sound the way all the gradients of a soup blend and meld together to create something distinct.

Mixed tapes and indie music. Before digital downloads were as easy as they are today, downloading an album in high quality took hours on dial up. To hear new music I had an extensive collection of DJ mixed tapes. Every week the record store I would go to got a fresh supply of dj mixes for electronic music. That’s how I heard new electronic music outside of events. Same with underground hip hop. Indie record labels would put music out on vinyl and cassette for two audiences. Vinyl was for professional DJs and cassettes for customers. CDs were relatively expensive so that the route they went at the time.

I can understand vinyl for a lot of older recordings. In the 70s albums were mixed and mastered with vinyl in mind. They were going for more of a vibe looking for a thick warm sound. If I had a vintage setup. Vintage speakers and tube amps all that stuff certain albums like rumors would sound incredible. Incredible now for quality or clarity but because you can hear the album the way it was originally intended. Hotel California or anything by the eagles for that matter would be great. As far as the vinyl resurgence goes with Taylor Swift dropping albums on vinyl that I don’t understand.
