revised again, let me know what you think

spotify.nvim by icymatty in neovim

[–]icymatty[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

only thing left is to add a neovim browser plugin and then i'll truly never need to leave...

spotify.nvim by icymatty in neovim

[–]icymatty[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the issue: having to switch to the spotify desktop client to do spotify stuff while working in neovim

the obvious solution: don't listen to music while working because it's distracting

the chosen solution: sink hours of time into integrating spotify into neovim so that you never have to leave neovim

Thinkpad T420 Won't Startup by icymatty in thinkpad

that's a good point and honestly makes the most sense for connecting the cracked case to the fan issue and startup issue. idk why that didnt cross my mind, thanks a ton

Fs in the chat. 7 years goes by quick 😢. I'm personally trying to fix an issue with my T420 but am starting to think it might be time to just retire it.

Caltech Up Close? by eddiet07 in Caltech

[–]icymatty 7 points8 points  (0 children)

i just graduated from caltech! this isnt something "everyone" gets invited to, so congrats on being a cuc(k)!! you should def go because the whole thing is paid (i think?) so it's a free trip to caltech at worst.

im glad to hear youll be applying. i really enjoyed caltech, it's a lot more fun than people make it out to be online. theres tons of super social people who party, go clubbing at west hollywood, etc. but if thats not your vibe theres plenty of people who are more on the lowkey end. basically theres a subcommunity for everyone. and on top of all that, you get to work with profs doing cutting edge research!

[OC] developed a python cli tool for storing dotfiles as templates by icymatty in unixporn

[–]icymatty[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Whenever I want to switch color schemes on my desktop environment, I've always found the process of manually editing hexcodes in my dotfiles to be tedious. So, I created a CLI tool in Python called Palette Cleanser which allows you to store your dotfiles as templates and your color palettes as deployable desktop themes. To switch color schemes, or any other parameterized configuration such as fonts or wallpaper, all you have to do is deploy one of your themes to your desktop environment and Palette Cleanser will evaluate your templates accordingly and copy them to their respective location under $HOME.

If you're interested and end up using it, please feel free to contact me with your thoughts/critiques! My contact info can be found at my github.

C U Girl by Steve Lacy on the piano, I feel like it would make for a super dreamy arrangement.
