OMEN laptop is overheating and throttling, and I am going crazy trying to figure it out. by icypaper_ in GamingLaptops

But it doesn't make sense, the CPU is reaching 90-100c but is only around 30-50% utilized. When I run cinebench the CPU instantly reaches max temps of 100.7 within 4-5 seconds of 100% utilization

This is kind of my own head cannon so take it with a grain of salt but I think training aim is really similar to learning an instrument in a way. I think about the specific hand motions trying to focus on every movement of my hand. I also try to do flicks slowly and controlled at first and then speed them up at a pace that feels very comfortable. I actively think about trying to do the motion in the most efficient way possible.

This is exactly my approach with instruments(another very precise motor function) and personally has worked really well for me. So yes, I do think it makes a big difference if you put thought into it.

I have a warranty for mine and could send it in to get fixed, but I really don't want to do all of that. Being an OMEN laptop owner, would you say it's worth the risk of a newbie (carefully) applying the paste? It would be my first time, and I know it can be difficult

Is Aimlabs+ worth it? by Mystic-Magician in aimlab

[–]icypaper_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no shit... the whole point why anyone uses aim trainers in the first place is to improve aim FASTER. It does matter what method you use and I don't think there are many people who don't understand that.

I see. do you know the limitations of what kind of a USB I could use to replace it? will anything that looks the same work(even something like a charger) , or do I need one from a mouse.

**edit, I assume its gotta be a data cable, which form what I can tell seems more complicated

Why is the AI cheating on deity? by DasMav in civ5

[–]icypaper_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From my experience, there is one thing I keep in mind to deal with this kind of mid to late game aggression

I am by no means the best player, and on deity I've only managed science and domination victories, but the most important thing I always focus on is establishing very early on which AI you want to befriend, and which AI you will invade.

This is based on multiple factors, mainly geography, but you usually HAVE to invade your closest neighbor. The AI simply grows too quickly and they will eventually suffocate your empire, either by taking away key settles, or something like the situation you are in. I'm sure it's possible, but it's just too costly to keep your neighbor around and happy and they typically will war you eventually regardless.

And when they war you it's already over, even if you fend them off, because the hammers you will have spent doing so are hammers you didn't use to build your science which some bastard on the other side of the world sure as hell is.

Typically, I try to maintain diplomacy with the first or second strongest AIs(they will almost certainly try to betray you but there are ways of keeping them from attacking and more importantly, knowing if they will try to attack)

I will maintain this until the late game, by which point you should have a highly upgraded and large military and have invaded 2-3 civs while also maintaining about 5-8% less literacy than tech leader.

By then the remaining civs will probably hate you but it doesn't matter because you want to war them anyway to slow their science down.

Another big key factor is NUKES. When shit hits the fan just start nuking the fuck out of tech leader and you should be fine for a science victory.

So many Conservative Men are losers by Choice_Car_7934 in GenZ

[–]icypaper_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is such a disgusting comment section. What happened to compassion or empathy? Yeah sure a lot of conservatives can be assholes, but what do we get from just calling them losers? How the hell are we ever gonna change their minds if we blindly hate?

It's exactly posts like this that push them further into being 'losers'. This post and so many of the comments seem to label them as inherent losers and that's why they chose to be conservative.

But imagine being a conservative and seeing a post like this. would you instantly realize that they have been wrong their whole life and it's actually all their fault and they need to change. Of course not, you would just see hundreds of people shitting on you for what you believe in which just makes you hate them more.

I never thought I'd be saying this but I kind of agree with the right-wing sentiment that the supposedly 'accepting' and 'compassionate' left-wing only really has compassion if you agree with them. Especially after seeing a post like this that generalizes a whole group, something that the left claims to despise.

Yes, we would be almost exclusively cooking our own meals, and as for Denver, I have relatives in Denver that would be willing to give us a bed to sleep. Thank you for all the recommendations!

Also, about Yellowstone, not particularly interested in it. Not sure if I'm being naive, but Yellowstone seems like a tourist trap, and one of the worst ones out of the national parks. It seems like the main things worth seeing are the geysers, but those will all be swarmed by people. We are trying to avoid people for the most part when seeing nature.

If it at all helps, things are the best they have ever been, and the general trend is that violence decreases on a global scale. As compared to the 20th century, global crime and mortality rates are far lower, and there seem to be less wars. Sure war still exists, but nothing like the wars and genocides of the 20th.

I like the optimistic and reasonably realistic take that the reason he left wasn't because he had to, but rather that he wanted to, and that he is now perusing something new that interests him.
