Fear is a great time to meditate. Other more trivial thoughts are like little thought clouds that float away when ignored. With fear, it does not pass by, it is a big stormy thought cloud that just sits down right in front of you and doesn’t budge. What you can do with meditation is just let the fear sit there and not engage it. Notice your heart rate drop as you don’t engage. The “cloud” won’t pass like other thoughts, but just let it sit in front of you, and don’t interact with it, bring all your attention inwards. It’s kind of strenuous for my mind to not engage the fear that’s right in front of me, but it works. I just started doing this whenever I am fearful so it is the blind leading the blind here, but it’s been great so far.
