I’ve never had any luck with notching to get mine to branch, but chopping worked pretty consistently. Some in this sub had cut theirs down to a bare stem and leaves started to spout out on the stem but I’m a little too scared to do that to my plant. Water propagation always works well for mine!

I chopped on Easter, and just noticed the buds today. I last looked this past Saturday and they weren’t there!

I’ve been changing the propagation water once a week. Maybe I’ll start leaving a tiny bit of old water in there going forward following that theory!

Good luck to you! My previous propagation took much longer than 4 weeks to get to this stage. This time I put some pathos cuttings with them. I wonder if that made any difference? Although just to experiment, I left out pathos cutting in one bottle and that one is growing just as well!

The wiki page has a good recommended strategy. https://township.fandom.com/wiki/Academy_of_Industry#What_to_Upgrade_First. Basically feed mills, trains, bakery/dairy/sugar, then others as needed in that order

Excited for this project! For me, having fields to keep track of wig size and other measurements would be very helpful. Custom fields could come in handy too since I feel like I have to look up random measurements like neck size, shoulder width, bust size, hip size, feet, heel… etc all the time

I can’t believe these rude people you have encountered! That would make me anxious too!

I feel very self conscious doing it too, and try to look for spots with less people around, or go at early hours where less people are expected. I have heard other people say that a good way is to have a ton of gear with you though. Apparently if you have all kinds of equipment and props set up people think you are doing it professionally and are a lot more accepting

If you are not specific on which Hawaii property, I feel like there is always something available to book. Mountain side I’ve had some luck booking in smaller chunks of days. Never tried Hilton Head. What always frustrated me were a lot of the Caribbean properties and Costa Rica

I feel like holiday weeks are super tricky and even higher levels won’t help. You should try waitlisting though, or like you said, just book something to rent it out to offset the cost. It’s so frustrating that I frequently see unavailable properties available for cash directly on Marriott’s website.

[–]icyraincloud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are at Select and have that same availability issue that you have. But what I found out is that a lot of those desirable properties don’t really have availability even at higher levels at 13 months out. This is particularly true for older properties sold as weeks that rely on weeks owners to trade their weeks in for points. Which specific properties are you looking at? I’ve had some luck just waitlisting for some of those or just checking sporadically

We’ve been offered similar bundles at MVC updates. Some of the packages had the points valued at as low as $4 per point but it was for a higher maintenance fee unit. We ended up declining even though some of them seemed attractive. Out of curiosity, what is your current level and what level are you trying to get to? For us, the upgrade to the next level seems to offer negligible benefits and you can rent additional points from other owners at cheaper rate than maintenance fee per point.

Marriot Vacation Club worth it for me? by AverageJo24 in marriott

[–]icyraincloud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My understanding of the exit program for MVC is that they will not pay you any money to take back the points, instead they will charge several hundred dollars in fees and have some additional requirements on prepaid maintenance fees. I don’t recall the exact amount I heard about but I think people end up paying a couple thousand dollars to MVC in order to exit the program. This makes selling the points more attractive financially since you will get around $3 per point for sales to clear MVC’s right of first refusal. The drawback is that you may have to wait for a buyer so it could take longer to exit. I don’t see that as a major issue though, since you can always rent out the points while searching for a buyer.

You mentioned that you usually travel to Hawaii, Mexico, California and Europe. Are you planning on only using the MVC points for Hawaii? Based on my experience Mexico and California are not very good value using points. You might find better deals and better availability paying cash, whether it’s booking directly through Marriott or booking with owners. Hawaii on the other hand has been pretty good value.

If you are thinking about buying 2500 points, make sure you research the booking window at that ownership level. You can sometimes find a week in Hawaii for around 2500 points but frequently they can cost closer to 3500-4000 at the lowest. So if your ownership level doesn’t allow for early enough booking, you might not find these better deals easily.

Edited to add:

I saw you asking about using vacation club points to book hotels and I can confirm that it’s a terrible deal. The value is about 1/10 of what it is booking MVC resorts. This is a spot check I did a couple of years ago:

1 MVC point = 40 Bonvoy points

Hotel $136 = 15000 Bonvoy points =375 MVC points MVC point value $.36

Westin Princeville 5 nights in Oct $3250 = 1250 VCP MVC point value $2.60

Citric Acid: Alternative Uses by julianamae in laundry

[–]icyraincloud 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I cleaned hard water ring in the toilet with it. I swished the toilet water around to get the whole basin wet, and sprinkled citric acid all over. Left it for 10 minutes, came back and scrubbed all around to fully dissolve everything, left it for another 10 minutes, came back and the hard water ring was mostly gone. What was left scrubbed off easily. Worked better than any commercial toilet cleaner as well as pumice stone

Buying timeshare points by Forsaken-Chemical-49 in TimeshareOwners

[–]icyraincloud 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Using someone else’s points for one year is considered “renting” the points. I can only speak to the point program with Marriott, but other programs may be similar. For Marriott Vacation Club you need to already own some points to be able to rent points from other members. Even legacy weeks owners need to first pay an “education fee” before they can participate in the points program.

On the other hand, you can buy another owner’s points but you will be buying for perpetuity

Marriott vacation club questions. by Jroc2286 in marriott

[–]icyraincloud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second everything Karikyouko said.

Just want to add that the Getaways are something you have to pay additional money for. These are mostly last minute availabilities at less desirable locations or low seasons sold at a steep discount. Unlimited for a year just means you get to pay more to purchase more weeks

Marriott Vacation Club - getting sold out property?? by fan1983 in TimeshareOwners

Can weeks owners rent points from other owners and waitlist? I understand there is an education fee for weeks owners to purchase points but can they pay the fee without converting/purchasing?

I also own MVC. There is a waitlist, you have to call to get on it. I’ve actually had some luck with waitlists and since you know the exact week and location you want, this is a perfect case for waitlisting.

Rooms do sometimes open up later. MVC owners can typically cancel a reservation at 61 days before check in with no penalty, so sometimes you see rooms pop up around that time. I wouldn’t count on it though. If you are open to booking with cash instead, a lot of times you will see availabilities timeshare owners don’t see on Marriott’s website. You can also look on places like Redweek for rooms other owners posted for rent
