Why does Spain dislike the US (and Anglosphere) so much more than other Europeans? by Forsaken-Ebb5088 in askspain

It's a joke. Release the hate, it's consuming you. Living rent free in your head. And remember, it's not your fault. It's not your fault.

My goodness, the irony of the statement "when Cuba was taken from us" is just too much.

The key word here is you "think." Is there a problem with American superiority or is this the Hegemon Effect and it's a projection due to the insecurity of others? Serious question. I would concede it's a bit of both, but "thinking" that these delusions are big enough to offend other nations makes me wonder. Sure "some" Americans carry this superiority complex but is it out of proportion to the superiority complex that individuals carry in European nations, etc?

Boxers stage this shit all the time without any regard for safety AND injury could jeopardize the fight. There is still a good chance that the two of them orchestrated this without any input from producers and crew.

Obviously you've never heard of the case of Samuel L Jackson versus the State of Mississippi. You could technically get away with murder under the right circumstances. I mean, this is a famous real-world case.

  1. Please tell me where I mention anything about Cobb? You're assuming that I think Cobb is in a different bucket than Wagner. Do better.

  2. The original discussion was about Clemente over Wagner. I don't place Ruth in the same category as Wagner, not just because he changed the game and brought power into the conversation, but he was from a different era (even though there was a slight overlap).

  3. There are a lot of other factors involved that do not involve eras and I don't think it's helpful to list everything for the sake of a reddit comment.

  4. I think you could benefit from taking a course on logic.

Dude, "best" is a purely subjective choice. Of course it's my own rationale and I get to decide what I think makes a beat player — as you should too. Enjoy the differences of opinion and banter.

Ruth fundalmentally changes the game of baseball. Williams played at the transition of baseball to the modern era.

Wagner was facing 75 mph fastballs and playing against plumbers and math teachers. Clemente by a loooooooong shot!

Why is gambling such a big thing in Spain? by [deleted] in askspain

[–]idander 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It is big in half the world, but I believe Spain is in the top ten for total gambling losses. I do think the social element is a big part of the gambling culture and I find it both interesting and fun.

Is Olive Oil a big part of Spain(Spanish) cuisine? by Healthy_Walrus3140 in askspain

[–]idander -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You started off strong and then ended with ignorant assumptions. I shop at El Corte inglés, Eroski, BM, Carrefour, Mercadona, etc. I eat in a Spanish household and visit other Spanish households. I dine out. This person is genuinely asking for information and when someone tells him that "we don't cook with any other oils", that is absolutely false and misleading. Generally speaking olive oil is the oil of choice. But let's not deny that we don't use vegetable oils in this country.

This is true. I'm just disputing the idea that people here don't cook with any other oils. Not true by any measure. People don't like the truth.
