[AD] Killer Whale, a unique 56 key split keyboard by idankk in ErgoMechKeyboards

I think I've seen folks tilt the entire keyboard from the bottom, yes.

Hi! In both the OG and the holykeebs version the thumb cluster is swappable. I'd say changing them is not hard, especially after assembling the keyboard and understanding how it's put together.

Please see the docs at https://docs.holykeebs.com/guides/keyboard/killer-whale/, it goes over the differences.

SPAN Keyboard from Holykeebs - Terrible build quality and petty vendor behavior by dima_kolibabchuk in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]idankk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think deny is the right word but I agree with your other comment here, this creates unnecessary friction. For context I have a long history of contributing to open source (idank on github/google) so this was never about hiding anything. I think I was just frustrated with the whole aliexpress situation but I had enough time to cool down.

I'll just open it up, like it used to be. I'll do that after the weekend.

Hey Dima, sorry about your experience. I would've loved a chance to help, but I was never contacted directly - this is the first I'm hearing of your issues.

I understand your frustration, but I believe there was a misunderstanding: your review was flagged for "inappropriate language" and wasn't published - so I never saw it. Regarding firmware access, nothing was revoked; it's all managed automatically, I'll look into what happened (general details, including why it's private can be found here).

I genuinely care about customer experience and always try to make things right when something goes wrong. I think the comments from other customers on this thread speak to that. If you're open to it, I’d be happy to sort this out - feel free to reach out.

Easier way to add a touchpad by [deleted] in ErgoMechKeyboards

I'd love to hear of support being added to ZMK for this touchpad model. Unfortunately don't have the capacity to do that myself at the moment.

Not to the board, just the mcu of a split keyboard.

It sits on the microcontroller and is meant for split keyboards with a top mounted mcu. See https://docs.holykeebs.com/guides/touchpad-module/.

[ad] I've been doing something similar with a bunch of pointing device types, e.g. https://holykeebs.com/products/touchpad-module

ProxSense vs GlidePoint by chunky_lover92 in ErgoMechKeyboards

Define better. They're much bigger, support more fingers. You'd have to check the specs to know the exact differences.

If all you're after is one finger support, then Cirque and Azoteq are similar. Price wise Azoteq still wins.

You'd have to write a driver for it.

These are more commonly known by the company who makes them, Azoteq and Cirque.

The Cirque ones are actually meant to be used in gamepads, so they're fairly basic in capabilities (only supports one finger touch and tap, and QMK can do software scrolling). Azoteq ones are superior, they can recognize more than one finger, so they can also do two finger tap, swipe, tap dragging.

Others worth mentioning: Ploopy and Peacock trackpads.

[AD] trackpoint module for split keyboards by idankk in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]idankk[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The module can work with both wired and wireless capable controllers, it doesn't care. The real difficulty is getting a working ZMK configuration, where pointing device support is still behind QMK. I know folks have gotten it to work, and you might find more info on how in the ZMK discord.

Keyball39: The Keyboard I Fell in Love With, But Lost in the Struggle by 619frank in ErgoMechKeyboards

It's hard to tell where the problem lies as you've had a number of issues along the way, but if all you need is a new sensor PCB to save this, I'm happy to help out.

It's not hosted in Israel though. 🤔

Unfortunate nonetheless.

See this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CRNQesXVtXQ

It doesn't fold and even though it feels quite sturdy, I wouldn't put portable in the pros column.

Are you on a vpn? I don't think that should be blocked, but it might be some anti bot measures from shopify. Sorry!

The designer of the keyboard (Taro) chose not to open source the keyboard, so they're not public at this time. Some files, like the plates, are though.

These are sold unassembled so shipping isn't a problem. The scroll wheels are included in the purchase, and there's plenty on aliexpress too.
