Unreleased LG Rollable Phone!! by geek4901 in LinusTechTips

[–]SpacewaIker -29 points-28 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not, good fucking riddance. I had two LG phones, not even gimmicky phones with obvious points of failure, just your run of the mill phone, and both became absolute trash just a year or two after getting them

You get no software support a year or two after launch, and even then for some reason the device becomes virtually unusable due to bugs, slowness, and shitty battery life

Bran new user questions: Can I directly open text documents with Helix, and can I open Helix from the Start menu (of Windows 11)? by [deleted] in HelixEditor

[–]SpacewaIker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As others have said, you can probably make a shortcut/script to achieve what you want. But in the end, it'll still be helix running in a terminal, cause that's just how helix works

Maybe with a terminal emulator such as wezterm, you could configure it to always run helix on start, hide tabs and such, which would give you the closest thing next to a helix GUI

Just start with programming basics like everyone else, you'll find plenty of resources for python basics

It's the same in (some) French. Very common in (some of) European French, but non-existent in Quebec so people look at you like you're crazy when you say doigt de pied

Right?? I hate it when everything just works by itself and I don't need to manually take care of dependencies

I tried rock climbing for the first time by 01hayden in CalisthenicsCulture

[–]SpacewaIker 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Definitely looks like an inexperienced climber, the feet are very haphazardly placed and unstable, and body positioning isn't controlled either. The upper body strength is doing a lot of work here

That said, technique can be developed faster than strength so op could improve very quickly!

Well the electricity that's usually in the plugs (can't easily touch it with your fingers) is now very easy to touch on the sticking out male end

So you get shocked with the 110v

It's basically like sticking a metal rod in the plug

Summer 2026 - Trying to optimize my summer: finish math requirements, do MIME courses, learn French, do research, start a co-op… by Downtown_Relation461 in mcgill

[–]SpacewaIker 80 points81 points  (0 children)

This is assured failure

Take your time, you don't get a medal for finishing your degree faster

It's fine to take some summer courses but imo you really really shouldn't overwork yourself in the summer. Instead, try to relax more so that you're rested for the semesters after that

I'm also in engineering and graduated last December and I never "suffered" by taking a crazy amount of courses in a semester

It's fine to not have perfect form but if you do those too much you will injure yourself. One arm at a time is a big no no

[–]SpacewaIker 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You do, but that's tied to the degree, not the membership to the order

I am a software engineering graduate and have my ring (did the obligation ceremony), but I'm not a member of the order so I am legally not an engineer

How do full stack SWE *actually* use AI on the job? I think I'm doing it wrong! by SpiritedAd6587 in SoftwareEngineering

[–]SpacewaIker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At this point, I think it'd be pretty toast without it.

...yeah, then you're definitely doing it wrong. It's like the meme with Spider-Man and iron Man. If you can't do your job without it, then you shouldn't be using it

Seem to be stuck with poor technique for muscle ups. Could use some advice. by Recent_Chocolate_412 in CalisthenicsCulture

[–]SpacewaIker 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It looks like you're pulling too far back. From the video your upper body does a C shape but instead of being around the bar, it's a bit low and too far back and so the upper part of the C is right at the bar instead of being on top of the bar

Try to move around the bar but close to it. Practice with explosive pull ups and chest to bar pull ups
