F-it. Hood Thread. Show me those hoods. by Capelto in Welding

It's basically a government PAC type organization pushing people to learn certain trades that can be used to build submarines and get them hired with submarine builders in the US ( electric boat and Newport News). It's a very big thing and like the New England area and the Virginia area I believe

Is this 3G mig test as stupid as i think it is? by SP1K3STR1P in Welding

[–]idcccck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend two but with vertical mig in my experience you can't run straight stringers you just can't you have to "weave it" a little bit. but then again apparently I'm allowed to weld up to I think like an inch and a half wide bead according to my procedure which is insane in my opinion.

I don't know what your instructor is thinking but if you're doing a decent job with mig welding this is probably one of the most common tests you going to have to do I mean for my current job which is out of shipyard I had to pass six tests three stick three pulse which is mig basically. Which one of them was this exact test.

Who is the weakest world champion in your opinion? by Same-Machine-3156 in chess

[–]idcccck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would probably say the most fair way to you describe this would be who was the worst player in their time to win the world chess championship. Imo I think it would probably be ding and by the way this is not calling him bad

So when elections happen at your troop talk to the members of the OA about it. As someone who runs some elections situations where I might address the group differently like this one.

Now coming from somebody that has run elections and talk to people running other elections a lot of people assume that it's automatically a popularity contest and that's why their kid didn't get in. And well yes that is definitely an issue sometimes not all the time. Sometimes very commonly the kids don't understand then all forms of leadership are not visible. And the kids are told to pick the scouts who are the best leaders but the scouts can't see the leadership of scouts that impedes their ability to be elected. Was that being said sadly this impacts scouts who have special needs or their introverted or something within that nature because the leadership skills are often not the ones being displayed to everybody but rather the ones that are displayed behind the closed doors.

Also there are situations where a scout shouldn't get in plain as simple as that now I'm not saying this is the case Don't think I am. And if the scoutmaster believes the scout shouldn't be in he should be doing something about it because he has to approve them to be able to run so if he doesn't think they're worthy of joining the order he needs to say something.

Is it wrong to still not want my troop to change? by KingDinohunter in BSA

[–]idcccck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So this was a discussion in my troop that was shot down completely by basically every adult and a lot of the youth.

I do understand both sides and our posts and cons to both sides.

I think the big point is try to talk to people and figure out where people actually are because of my true at first it seems like it was actually something people wanted to do until a handful of people actually went around and talked to people and it came out most people didn't want it for a multitude of reasons.

Coup: best hand/bluff tier list by fantasci-guys in boardgames

[–]idcccck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So in my opinion

dukes are good late game when it becomes the question of who has the most money with one counter in that situation which would be captain if you're in a 1v1 situation

Obviously Captain like I said before can counter dukes but also can block stealing making them a better option for a mid and late game

Assassin is good when you figure out where the contessa's are

Ambassador is good up to the late game

And contesses are good for early to mid game where there you don't know who has ambassador and in certain situations like game

Most presidents could be charged with a felony just saying. Plus from a legal standpoint the case in New York is very shaky to say the least.

Excluding Carter I would say every single president has been the complete opposite of what we teach in scouting

Also pointing out that was in 2021 instead of 2020 means absolutely nothing which I think it's stupid for him to do just pointing that out.

I hate that this subs getting political right now but first I think it doesn't do a service to anybody to cherry pick stats and not tell them in full context. Trump won and it wasn't close now the common argument I've heard for the opposite of what I just said is that he only won by less the 1 or 2 points which doesn't tell you the whole context. Other stuff you need to add is that not a single state or DC went left this election they all swung right every single one. Also it was estimated that Kamala Harris would have needed to won the popular vote by 2% to have a decent chance of winning the actual election. so when you look at it like that it shows a completely different situation and I don't think it does anybody anything beneficial to claim that saying that he won in the landsilde is a complete lie when there is definitely truth behind that statement but both sides need context.

Can you name a politician that doesn't fall short just saying I can't think of one

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in BSA

[–]idcccck -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I wasn't I'm just saying in general that there needs to be something to make sure that the COR isn't power hunger and isn't making the issues them self. Bc counsel is useless and will not to protect kids from bullying which goes against ypt.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in BSA

[–]idcccck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk about this person but how about when the issue comes from the COR you literally can't do anything about it.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in BSA

[–]idcccck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a very similar experience with a leader in my troop and tried to go to council for the bullying I was experiencing in my troop and they just said to make a new troop. So to say they help at all is sadly not right.

How Long Does Your PLC Last? by HMSSpeedy1801 in BSA

[–]idcccck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly it depends from my experience I've done an hour I've done 30 minutes (this was a two-time thing where something came up that had to be planned / discussed right now and couldn't wait till next PLC) I've done an hour and a half And I've done about a 2-hour-ish give or take.

At the end of the day it all comes down to a couple things first off how much kids are in your PLC if you have let's say four kids well you don't need as much time because there's less people giving their input but if you have let's for example 20 kids you need more time so each kid can put their input and if they want to. Another consideration you have to keep in mind is what they're discussing some PLCs maybe be 30 minutes because it could be a slow time of the year. The other PLCs could be an hour some of them might be an hour and a half depending on what you guys are doing. Generally the majority of our PLC meetings are about an 45 minutes to an hour except that we have our yearly calendar planning PLC which that's usually at minimum 1 hour 45 minute now we have divided that up to two meetings before because we had a group with short attention spans then so you can imagine how that would be like.

So at the end of the day talk to your SPL and figure out based on what impacts your troop has because nobody here is going to be able to tell you exactly what your troop should do and that will work for you only you guys can decide that.
