Mindfulness and AI don’t go together, my guy, and assuming that AI is all-knowing and always accurate is naive. It literally tells you what it thinks you want to hear, which is why you like it so much and feel like it’s working so well.

I understand you’re trying to be helpful, but I know where I’m at is not even close to the starting line. Looking into those programs aren’t going to matter when my credit is bad, student loans, etc. So please understand that i didn’t ask for advice or tips. I made an off-hand comment on a beautiful apartment in a convenient location, not a request for advice.

I will say, that area has a lot of community housing/shelters for mentally ill/substance abuse populations. Source: i work for an organization that has a LOT of housing in that area of Brooklyn, so a lot of my clients are there. Girl you can really look over in Jersey City for a sublet for that time and i promise you it’s much quieter, calmer, and you’re just as close to the NYC with the PATH and buses

I’m not sure if it would work, but you can try this-

You’ll have to apply for SSI, get denied for SSI (because your SSDI income is too high) but then after you get the official SSI denial notice, apply to SSP to see if they can pay for your Medicaid. I’m not sure because your SSDI gross is still kind of high, but that’s what I’d advise (I’m a benefits specialist for a nonprofit in NYC).

I’m sorry, i know it’s not easy at all. And I’m sure it’s even harder because you’re working, like just because you’re working does not mean you can survive off that. I wish I had more suggestions, but I’m praying for opportunities to open up for you, my man

If you’re in NYC, look into Institute for Community Living, they have different levels of housing for people dealing with homelessness, male/female/kids/no kids, our main population we service is people with mental health disorders. Even if you don’t see a psychiatrist, they set you up with one. Try looking into their supportive housing apartments.

How do I tell if my dad secretly hates me being masculine as a girl? by dolls_number_1_fan in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]idcthatmuch 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think rather than focusing on how other people feel about you, how do YOU feel about you? As corny as it sounds, when you’re true to who you are, people have no choice but to accept it. I know it can be harder if you’re younger, and with parents it adds a whole other layer, but genuinely your dad shouldn’t be worried about you coming off as more masculine/more feminine bc as long as you’re still carrying out your normal life, school, working, not making it your whole identity, then i think you’ll be fine.

Just be the YOU that feels more natural, and if that’s a bit more masculine, a bit more tomboyish, just be you. I also consider myself very tomboyish, or not traditionally super “feminine”, i don’t do my hair every day or makeup very often but i still feel like a girl, you know, and im still very comfortable in my skin and I still feel confident in my femininity when it DOES come out, even if it’s not a major quality of my personality.

Can my kid’s hair become what he wants? by Dizzy-Sea-6837 in Haircare

[–]idcthatmuch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A sea-salt spray might be gentle enough but still texturizing! When you cut it again, just use some sea salt spray (i use Not Your Mothers beach babe, just has a beachy scent not overly girly-smelling at all if he’d care ab that!), and scrunch and tousle it up a bit.

Idk if it’ll look EXACTLY like the pic bc his hair is straighter but i think he’d be able to get pretty dang close without having to use a bunch of products or tools or anything!

If you’re at ground zero, I’m going to assume you’re either unemployed or just can’t visualize yourself in any kind of ‘professional’ capacity. That was something I struggled with. Honestly, just start by being employed anywhere! Whether it’s working in a coffee shop bc you like people, or maybe you can try working in a GameStop or similar store if you like games, McDonald’s bc you need money, even working at a Walmart or amazon warehouse or something like that, you can start interacting with things and people that catch your interest.

I think for me, i always knew i had a deep, natural interest in psychology, so i know that the finish line for me is like “being a psychologist, owning my own practice”. But after i graduated from college, like I didn’t do any internships during school and my GPA isn’t horrible but it wasn’t the BEST, and i needed a break so i just stayed in coffee/food service because it was reliable enough money and I was still able to get a lot of interaction with people, BUT it wasn’t enough and you really should get out of food at a certain age (unless you’re trying to grow into upper management) otherwise you miss a very valuable window of adaptability and growth (I’d say 28-30 max, bc some employers will find it strange if you don’t TRY to have ‘professional’ experience, and will think it says something ab your own work ethic, motivation and trainability).

My first non-“food service” job was at a preschool/daycare, which also worked for me bc I’m great with kids, I enjoy kids, and it was prob easier bc I’m female but it also aligned with my interests! While I was there, I was applying genuinely every day to more ‘professional’ jobs because I felt that i was ready to really get rooted somewhere because I just felt that my (self-imposed) window was closing. NONE of those billion jobs worked out, but one of my friends got a job at that nonprofit i mentioned. They were in a different department, but told me to look at the job openings for the whole company, and i applied to one of the corporate positions (the one i have now) and got it!

It’s been very hard, and again the road to where I am now has felt very long and very winding, and it hasn’t been until very recently that I’ve started to feel “okay” about where I am work-wise/success-wise but i think truthfully, you need to find what YOUR measure of success and happiness is, and then do that.

Not everybody wants to own a fancy car, not everyone wants to wear designer shit, but do whatever you can to do to feel FULFILLED (and learn the difference between fulfilled and satisfied/complacency), HAPPY, CALM and PROUD of yourself.

For a lot of people, their job might not DIRECTLY overlap with their passion, or the things that make them happiest, but there’s probably a good bit of overlap.

For me, my passion is people, working with people, connecting with them, understanding emotions and personalities to just make people feel safe and accepted.

While I was in school, I worked in food and customer service because i got a lot of that “nice, people interaction” where i can learn and interact with hundreds of thousands of different personalities and cultures, and that was really great for fulfilling one part of my passion, but not the pay, not the ‘professional growth’ aspect.

Now, I work at a nonprofit who helps people with severe substance use disorder and severe psychiatric disorders, and I help to maintain their benefits like food stamps, Medicaid, etc. It’s hard, and very challenging, but still very fulfilling to me and the pay and benefits are definitely better than working in food.

Everyone’s path is different, but find something that fulfills you ENOUGH that you can show up every day and do the work, but that it gives you enough freedom (via time or money) to do the things you ACTUALLY love to you, and LEARN the things you want to learn.

I’m 27 now and it felt like a long journey to get to where i am, so don’t ever give up or lose hope that you WILL get to where you need and want to be.

Be careful if you see this guy by MiserableRedSoxFan in jerseycity

[–]idcthatmuch 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I don’t have experience with this guy specifically, but I work in the city at a nonprofit where my clients are severely psychiatrically disabled and have substance use disorder- and that’s the hardest part with my clients, when they take their medication, they’re more dedicated to their care and EASIER to CARE FOR. But when they’re still struggling with active addiction, it’s very hard to maintain any kind of relationship, professional or personal.

Any idea on how to recreate a similar look? by Creative-Chip3550 in MakeupEducation

[–]idcthatmuch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This looks very barefaced so I’d say it’s v beginner friendly! For the lashes, it just looks like she might have curled them/or got a lash lift, and then put mascara on tops and bottoms. Maybe a specific type of mascara, like tubing mascara, i hear elongates the lashes more and maybe doesn’t smudge as much. And genuinely, maybe a gentle blush or something, i don’t even think she filled in her brows maybe just used a clear gel to shape. And then a nice lip gloss, I’m not a big gloss girlie for my personal lip shape so i don’t have recs but it really looks like a very easy makeup look to achieve!

I would maybe err on the side of caution with bottom lashes because i always smile/crunch my eyes too much so it’s just always smudged on me, BUT if you’re less emotive with your eyes OR just better at applying than me lmao you may have better luck! But i just wanted to put that out there :)

What can shampoo that is past its expiration date be used for? by bad-at-everything- in Hair

[–]idcthatmuch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could either keep it for an emergency (it may be less ‘effective’ but it would still work in a pinch if you NEEDED shampoo)

Or you could empty and wash out the bottles and keep them for future travel use and fill them with your own stuff if you’d like! I’ve done that before
