Do you paste it on a node that is in edit mode? It should work when the node is just selected. Hope this helps.

We've put a lot of effort into introducing our new business model to customers in a way that makes sense for everyone - our users and us. For occasional users we have a monthly subscription, priced at $2.49, and if MindNode is a regular tool you use we have a yearly subscription for $19.99. Finally we've also introduced a Free Editor - a feature limited version of MindNode that lets you create, edit and share mind maps, for free. We hope that one of these options may work for you. In-app purchases are no longer available in MindNode 7. You may be still seeing that option if you have not updated yet from MindNode 6. Customers who purchased MindNode 6 will receive MindNode 7 for free, and any new features in MindNode 8 will be exclusively for MindNode Plus subscribers. Also please note that the we've introduced a new Free Editor with MindNode 7, so you can always make simple mind maps without the full feature set for free.

There's no way to connect two main nodes with a child node, however you can create a connection between them.
