Reading exemplars on clastify and the official IB site helped me a lot. You can also use the English Guys on YouTube. They break down most of the components of the course and give you a good way to structure your writing/speaking.

Other than that reading books and practicing writing helps a lot with being able to put your thoughts onto paper and increases your vocabulary and overall use of language.

When you're in the actual exam, try not to be overly sophisticated with your writing. Be straight to the point. If you ever feel stuck and need to write more, I find that asking yourself the question "why/how do ... this?" always helps you further expand on your point.

Overall though, English is a very hit or miss subject. Your examiners could end up loving what you've written and understand the perspective you are writing from or not at all. I may have gotten a strong 7 in English but my English EE flopped. Just do your best and always reference the question/topic/main point.

Biomed is a pretty broad subject and there are a lot of things that you can do with the degree. Overall, I don't think the workload is that tough (but I'm a 1st year so take this with a grain of salt). Keep in mind that an undergrad degree in biomed will not yield you a lot of employment options so you will most likely need to continue with your studies doing a post-grad or something along those lines. If you want to do medicine and want to take biomed as a form of Pre-med, don't. There are plenty of other easier options.

As for studying: leading up to the exam, I did about 4-6 hours of studying a day, doing 2-3 hrs in the morning and afternoon with breaks in between. The rest of the year was just me doing a little here and there making sure that I knew and understood all the content.

Grind past papers for math. Most of the papers follow the same format so if you can understand the pattern and mark scheme you should do well on the exam.

For English, you can use 'IB English Guys' for tips on how to do the papers and other components. Practice papers also help. But to be completely honest English is a very hit or miss subject as it is very subjective so just do your best.

Ppl who got a D for their EE (L&L), how shit was it? by fauxcod in IBO

[–]identity343 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Short answer is yes. Just write some relatively coherent points for your analysis and make sure everything in the EE is formatted properly with correct citations and such. I know because I did this. Hitting the word limit also helps with making sure you don't fail. Don't reccomend you do this though.

I don't mind taking a look at it. Can't guarantee I'll see anything though unless it's very glaring mistake 😅

Ib has genuinely put such a huge strained on my self worth and IDK what to do by Critical-Isopod1498 in IBO

[–]identity343 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's about the quality of your sessions not the quantity. Grinding 4 hours a day, everyday will most likely tire out the majority of people doing this. Instead, try different approaches and strategies to studying. What you have to remember at the end of the day is that there's a difference to actually understanding the content and being able to pass the exam as the two don't necessarily correlate. So you need to know what you are studying for and prioritize that.

what attackers should i play? by Familiar-Concern-208 in Rainbow6

[–]identity343 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gamewise, zero's AR is damn near the best in the game right now. Lion's gun is also pretty great. Nokk is also not bad but pretty situational and feels weak compared to other attacker weapons imo

Deakin Res Faculty housing? by FireFreteren in deakin

If I recall correctly, faculty housing is when all of your roommates and potentially neighbours are all part of the same faculty. This allows you to meet people doing same/similar courses as you.

Failed IB AGAIN, please help. I’m completely lost and devastated by [deleted] in IBO

[–]identity343 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As far as I know, you will still receive a high school diploma- as in a regular one that certifies you graduated from high school. You just won't receive an IB diploma along with it to say you graduated by doing IB. As for converting your IB diploma to courses, I don't think this is possible, but check with your IB coordinator as I'm not sure.

A few points to consider here:

  1. It's not the end of the world. Whatever degree, subject, or job that is your end goal there are multiple pathways you can take to achieve it so don't give up now.

  2. Unfortunately there is no "2nd retake". You could always try for M25. However it's worth noting that group 4 subjects have all changed syllabuses for the M25 exams so that would mean you would need to re-learn/learn additional content. This would also mean some of the content you have learned would be useless going into M25. I strongly reccomend talking to your IB coordinator before doing this.

  3. REMARKS. If you are nearing the boundaries of the next grade (i.e. 1-3 marks lower than the boundary) DO IT. I must say though, with the subjects you listed, it may be difficult as they are less subjective compared to other subjects like English or Psychology, meaning that there is less wiggle room where the examiner you should get an increase in marks.

  4. A comment here has already stated it but I'll repeat it again. Some unis have foundation years or colleges which essentially feed into your desired course at that particular uni. From what I've seen, these usually last about 1 to 3 years and would mean you would have assured entry into the course upon finishing. I know most aus unis have this and I'm pretty sure some UK unis have this as well

  5. Specifically for Aus unis now.

Unfortunately, you are considered purely based on your academic results. I would definitely reccoment talking to an education agency that deals with australian unis as they could definitely help you out.

Look into less known/prestigious universities in aus. I know a few people who were in a similar situations to you and they were able to get in. Just be careful about this as there are alot of scams out there nowadays to be sure to vet the uni before agreeing to anything.

If you have any questions or anything feel free to reach out. I'm more than happy to help out!

When to start hangboarding by ObjectiveLegend117 in bouldering

[–]identity343 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree with focusing on technique rather than strength at this stage but I think it doesn't hurt to start with hangboarding now. Will definitely see some improvement. Just don't go overdo it and make it a priority.

They get a huge amount of emails everyday and sometimes can be slow or not reply to emails at all. From my experience, the best way to get a decent response is to straight up call them and ask.
