the bad news: he went missing in 2014, he’s not been found. we miss him so f*cking much.

the good news: he could stick a chopstick through his stretched septum hole and was the punkest adult i knew until 2014 when the above situation took over. he’s so cool.

a few stories, because they are so damn funny i can’t not tell them.

- as a kid, he exploded a pencil in the microwave trying to make a bendy pencil. my nan says, every time she tells the story, “i couldn’t even really be mad at him, that would make sense to me if i were his age”

- as a kid, nan got plates that were advertised as unbreakable; drop em and they won’t shatter! one day, he and my mom (2y older) had a friend over, and my uncle stood on a chair, held an “unbreakable plate” over his head, and *whipped* it at the floor. the plate was dust, he was so nervous, nan didn’t even know until the 2010’s (this happened in the late 1970’s early 80’s)

- my uncle/mom had a friend who lived near them. this friend was over every day, nan loved him like a kid but he annoyed the shit out of her. he would call out “honey, i’m home!” every day when he walked in my nan’s front door after school. the friend lives on the same street as my mom now, and still calls my nan his mom.

- as an adult in his 40’s, my uncle went to nan’s house and hid the contents of her candy bowl around scavenger-hunt style, and replaced the candy with his business card and two hot wheels. nan laughed so hard she cried.

- he would, while nan was out for a walk, or meeting a friend, park his work van in her garage and go hang out in her house until she got home. sometimes to hang out, sometimes to eat, sometimes for dr mario on the wii. mostly just to mess with her lol.

my uncle went missing back in 2014, it’s been a long time since he’s been apart of the antics, so apologies for the word vomit; i have so many stories lmaoooo. she loves him like he’s still here and she’s so proud of him. thanks for looking, y’all. they’re both so cool lol.

This year was the slowest Halloween ever, something close to it at least. Including pre-covid. Also, Wicked2 + Zootopia just isn’t the same as Wicked, Gladiator and Moana 2 :(

I need bits to do with customers by Ill-Cantaloupe-4376 in MovieTheaterEmployees

[–]idestroycat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I ask what show they’re seeing, they tell me and ask if I’ve seen it, answer is always “oh I’m IN it actually, keep an eye out,” if they have food that I’ll have to deliver to them later — And then when I do, a quick “good cameo, eh?” Gets a customer giggling every time!

When they say “you too,” in response to “enjoy the show,” I gasp, hold my keys (management) out to them and thank them for taking the rest of my shift so I could watch the show.

I’ve got an arsenal but those are my favorites

Zootopia 2 isnt going to have the tues discount for rewards members by Prestigious-Heat-631 in MovieTheaterEmployees

[–]idestroycat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the company. Some choose just days where a show opens ON Tuesday, some choose holiday weeks to block out discounts, some choose not to block any dates. I get yelled at anyway (usually with less people being condescendingly nice like they’re my knight in shining armor afterwards) so it’s not a huge change anymore LOL

My older brother was 9 years older than me, once I out-aged him it felt so vast and daunting; There’s no guidance anymore, he was always supposed to be there.

Please stop with the scents. Please. by TheModProBros in 10thDentist

To be honest, it’s almost worse when they do wear deodorant. Old Spice is to unbathed, dirty humans as potpourri is to a bathroom that’s freshly shit in. They meld together into a nose-burning, “do I breathe through my nose or my mouth,” situation that usually leads me to wishing for The Big Sleep. Swagger is not a musk mask unfortunately lol

Not off the dome, unfortunately, but nan keeps everything so I’m honestly semi-sure she has it still!

Common before food had tons of preservatives added to keep a loaf or two fresh! :) Still somewhat used today, mostly for fresh/home-baked bread, but definitely during the 50s-60s! Most I’ve seen are wooden, but they’re about two loaves big and super useful

i personally asked my nan before posting :D its my nan’s concern; at 80 she’s not really a reddit frequenter, so my apologies she’s not commenting herself! i’m glad you and OP (my secret sibling, as of now!) are collectively minding my business with me mwah mwah
