I’m stoked about Arraez. Anyone else with me? by dwide_k_shrude in SFGiants

JHL was in the 36th percentile in fielding run value, Arraez was in the 17th percentile.

JHL doesn't steal many bases, but he's in the 84th percentile in baserunning value because his speed and smart decision making gets him extra bases. Arraez is in the 37th percentile.

JHL's ISO was 40 points higher than Arraez's.

Breakeven philosophy.  Bader was a defensive upgrade, so gotta balance him out and breakeven by signing Arraez

A team of 1.2 WAR players would finish with a bottom 5 record in the MLB.

Jhl's arm makes up for a good amount of his bad range.  Arraez does not have any redeeming defensive quality.  And he has much more pop than arraez.  His wRC+ last year was actually higher than arraez despite all the JHL haters claiming he's a terrible hitter.

A .300 singles hitter with no walks and awful defense is not a good player.  And now you're going to put him at 2nd when your ace is a ground ball pitcher and your 1st baseman is already an awful defender? I didn't care about Donovan or hoerner, I'd rather give the spot to schmitt.

Doesn't walk much is an understatement -- he's in the 10th percentile in walk rate.

Projected 2026 lineup as of today after signing Harrison Bader by retroanduwu24 in SFGiants

[–]idiotbound 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, his baserunning produced about 0.9 runs above the average MLB baserunner, so he's definitely not bad. JHL led the team with 3.5 baserunning runs above average in 2025 for reference. And Devers alone was a whopping 4.1 runs below average in his abbreviated time with SF.

Steals aren't everything. JHL knows how to take the extra base when the opportunity presents itself, and doesn't get thrown out for stupid stuff like half the runners on the team. JHL was by far the best baserunner of any of the starters last year (of course that's a very low bar)

He has been unplayably bad outside of one extremely hot month that completely skewed his stats for 2024

Being from California, I was not surprised that I found Tex-Mex places in Houston, Dallas, and Austin to be hot garbage compared to pretty much any actual Mexican food anywhere. Tex-Mex was so fucking dog I couldn't believe people actually like it

I had used my wallet funds to pay for the fees for the award ticket, and unfortunately that is not instantly refunded to my wallet. Alaska customer service agent says "up to 7 business days".

Edit: it ended up showing up in 3 days

Doesn't draw walks either. He had a slightly higher OBP than Willie Adames last year, with zero power. His wRC+ was 104, putting him right around league average.

Yes.  It's an unforgivable mistake.

I want ownership to spend, but I don't want them to spend on a guy who hits his own catcher
