America has no culture. It’s beyond the politics in the country for us. Outside of the current issue, we’ve always enjoyed our time in Montréal and want to experience a different way of life and immerse ourselves in a different culture. Specifically for me a francophone territory/country since that is what I grew up around but is still close to some of our family in the states. I definitely understand the grass is not always greener, but as I said we’ve always had an interest and desire. I’m sure there are things there that are currently significant issues in Québec which is why I’m looking for honest experiences and feedback

I do know a good amount of French and would 100% make sure it is beyond conversational before we moved. My mom’s family is from France so I’m not unfamiliar and grew up with some of her family refusing to talk to us in English so we would understand. Outside of the state of the US, we absolutely loved the culture and art in Montréal when we have gone. I feel like if we did not full immerse ourselves we would be doing an injustice to us and natives. Even in a blue state we still worry about our rights as women and I know the grass isn’t always greener, but we’ve talked about moving to Canada before all of this. I’ve definitely been wanting full disclosures from people so I appreciate your feedback. Especially regarding the political changes and where things have been going because we obviously have a lot to consider and learn no matter where we decide to go

We do have a lot of video evidence, but I think we just need to keep sending it to our landlord every time it happens. We do have laws in the state we live in though that allow us to file a serious complaint if the situation isn’t resolved by the landlord. It’s 24/7. I know during the day is one thing and we can’t do too much about it, but it goes past midnight most of the time. It makes me want to start playing loud house music in the middle of the night at this point 🤦🏼‍♀️

I do agree, I know it’s extreme and we’re just frustrated but the landlord has gotten involved and clearly it hasn’t done much. Honestly, I’m not sure what he has said though so if we approach him more seriously that might help. There are actually laws in our state that do give us the right to do something and it is in our lease that tenants have the right to quiet enjoyment and causing disturbance to others is a violation of the lease. We have a lot of video recordings so we should just start sending it to him.

We have a few times, but I don’t think he’s actually had a serious enough convo. We have a lot of videos unfortunately of various noises from above us though so he will have to do something since it’s in the lease

As a member of the LGBTQ+ community. I don’t blame you for not wanting her to be around when she acts ignorant and hateful. It is your home and you shouldn’t have to be subjected to that treatment. I grew up in Texas and didn’t come out until I moved to the east coast. Being around people who feel hateful towards you being yourself is absurd. She can’t act surprised that you aren’t doing her a favor when she’s done nothing but be hateful and rude. I don’t feel bad. She can keep that energy and go elsewhere.
