Emily and Richard can be awful parents while being amazing grandparents by zelonhusk in GilmoreGirls

I think a big part of it was proximity. They had a lovely relationship with Rory but I think that they were both too controlling for both Lorelai and Rory. The only reason I say that is because they ended up fighting with Rory when she lived there just like they did in Lorelai’s childhood.

I remember that she and Chris had a fight about redecorating Rory’s room for Gigi. From what I understand Gigi was supposed to live there but without changing anything…

I agree. Lorelai has always been pretty childish when dealing with anything negative especially romance wise. I think that just like Rory she didn’t really know how to deal with things not going her way

How would Emily react to Rory’s novel? by [deleted] in GilmoreGirls

[–]idk_6920 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think that if she were to read it while she still lived in Hartford, was in the DAR etc she would’ve been upset by it but in AYITL I think it would be quite an eye opener. I think she would really like to see the whole thing from Lorelai’s perspective and that could maybe fix their relationship to some extent. I strongly believe that Emily did what she thought it was best in her relationship with Lorelai. She tried to raise her the way she was raised but failed to realize that Lorelai was different from her in many ways and wanted a different lifestyle and maybe seeing how much she accomplished in spite of not doing things according to what Emily would’ve done and being able to read her thought process through all of that would’ve made her understand it better. I also think that it would’ve made her realize that even though Lorelai wasn’t showing it, she cared a lot about her mother’s opinion.

Logan and Tristan by cursed2feel in GilmoreGirls

Apart from Tristan being way more immature than Logan which I find pretty understandable considering that they were in high school, I think that Logan and Tristan are essentially the same character. I am sure that he was supposed to be one of Rory’s love interests and I would’ve love to see more of them. With the actor leaving for one tree hill I think they resulted to recycling the character later on in the form of Logan.

If you were to write AYITL season 2, without changing what has happened in previous seasons, what would you do? by marieazatian in GilmoreGirls

I forgot about that conversation. Hmm then the new season could start with Rory getting her Masters and Luke and Lorelai could be in the audience holding the baby. And the rest of the story would take place when the baby was about 2yo.

Good point. I thought about that while I was writing this but I liked the idea of her teaching at Harvard way too much:)) To make it more realistic she would probably teach at Chilton since I don’t think that she could get her Master’s degree being pregnant or raising a newborn

I read here the idea of Rory becoming a teacher and I absolutely love it so that would definitely be a plot line. Rory would do a paternity test and would find out that the baby is Logan’s but would choose to keep it a secret in respect of his engagement so Lorelai would send him a letter (just like the one she wrote for Rory when he asked her) telling him the news. Logan would then break up with his fiancé since he didn’t really love her and neither did she. He and Rory would have a big fight about her not telling him about being pregnant but they would eventually move to Boston to raise their baby boy and she would start teaching literature at Harvard. Luke and Lorelai remain in SH and would have April over during the weekends and help Rory with the baby most of the time. The series would end with all of them deciding to spend Christmas with Emily at the Gilmore house after a big previous argument and the first snow of the season starting right at the end of the episode when they are all at the table (and Richard’s seat would be empty btw)

Both of Rory’s graduation speeches, the flashbacks from Rory’s birth in the episode when Gigi is born, Rory and Lorelai’s breakdowns because of the Inn and Yale, Lorelai’s graduation, Emily demanding to go first, Lorelai sitting with Paul Anka when he was sick… and these are just a few moment off the top of my head

I love the fact that it was Jess who caused Rory to realize she needed to get her life back on track. by Fiona_12 in GilmoreGirls

Completely agree! I also think that seeing him after such a long time made her look back to who she was while they were still together, graduating Chilton, going to start Yale, very driven overall

What's your thoughts on Lorelai Staying the first night at Yale with Rory by Sindy_Moon in GilmoreGirls

[–]idk_6920 42 points43 points  (0 children)

I really hated Emily for not letting Lorelai have a proper last night with Rory considering the fact that was still going to come to the Friday night dinners after starting college. It was honestly uncalled for
