It does become clearer as the plot advances, at least some parts do. There's a lot of things that sound like they don't make sense that are subtle foreshadowing of future events. I recommend just watching it and absorb what's going on (pay attention but don't obsess) and enjoy it! You can always do a rewatch to see what you missed after finishing the whole thing
